Pet care experience
If it has fur, it's a friend!
59-year-old longtime Portlander and non-profit leader (former Founding Executive Director of NW Dance Project). Happy to meet new critters and hoomans, expand my schedule, and explore new and known locales. I have had pets all my life and truly love all animals. I really believe I can communicate with animals. Very fluent in Cat. I've cared for critters with numerous daily medical needs (special diets, medications, subcutaneous fluids, etc.). I can’t not help animals - your pet(s) will be the focus of my attention, conversations, and affection, and we'll develop our own special relationship. My two cats are pampered and loved beyond belief (daily tooth and fur brushing, litterbox cleaning x2/day, kisses, cuddles, and snuggles galore - their mom takes wonderful care of them when I'm away for sittings, etc.). At this age, I'm rather “dull” and quiet. Obsessive leanings make me super tidy, respectful, reliable, and responsible. I will totally respect your pets, home, and privacy. My goal is to provide peace of mind and to make things better for you and your pet(s). To me, a "sitting gig" means staying overnight (unless otherwise requested), no visitors, and not being absent for more than 4-hour stretches.

Safety, trust & environment
My two cats are doted upon (well cared for by a housemate/partner when I'm away). Teeth brushed and fur brushed before breakfast. Nails clipped bi-weekly. Baths quarterly. Snuggles, kisses, cooing, and play multiple times a day. I talk to them constantly. I'm never not fascinated by them and will extend the same love and care to any animal. Making a new furry friend is about the most rewarding experience I know and I take the honor very seriously. I will protect your pet(s), care for it/them completely, and strive to become its/their new best friend.
Ratings and reviews
Scott is the kindest and most wonderful housesitter; he established perfect rapport with our dogs the moment he first came in for a meet-and-greet, and kept us updated with photos and messages throughout the stay. Could not have asked for more! Thank you!

My cats will tell you Scott is amazing because he knows all the right spots to scratch and understands that the only schedule that matters is the cat schedule for dinner, treats, brushing, and cuddles. We’ll also tell you he’s amazing for all that, but also that our garden is well-cared-for, packages and mail dealt with, the house is immaculate, and he’s just a super nice and interesting guy! He’s absolutely our go-to for pet sitting.

Our favorite sitter!!

Scott did a fantastic job, we’ll be hiring him again!

Scott continues to be the best sitter ever. He is great at communicating, our dog loves him so much, he takes our dog on great adventures, and our home looks like he wasn’t even here. We love having him and I think our dog might be sad we’re home and Scott isn’t here!

Scott is great! Very communicative and clean, and Mia seemed very comfortable with him for 2 visits.

Schedule
I'm the outgoing Executive Director of NW Dance Project and a nearly lifelong Portland resident (in SE presently). 59-year-old "boring and quiet" male with a largely open and flexible schedule (unless previously booked, of course). I determine my own work hours and can work from anywhere (mostly) with good Wi-Fi. Have reliable transportation. Looking to shake up my "routine," interactions, and experiences. Safeguarding a community member's home and caring for their furry family members seems like a wonderful way to apply myself. Very responsible, reliable, and respectful. Extremely tidy. Happy to care for plants, bring in mail/packages, do upkeep, etc. I seem to set a lot of clocks during sittings. If it needs doing, I'm happy to do it. I need reliable/secure Wi-Fi/internet to sit. Prefer single-family home or similar for sittings. LOVE multi-pet sittings. Rarely will sit with other hoomans in the residence. Not the best pick for "small yappy dogs" (no breed shaming, but Chihuahuas and I are often on different levels). To me, a "sitting" means staying overnight (unless otherwise requested), no guests, and not being absent for more than four hours at a time. I will completely respect your privacy (aka: I won't go through your stuff). I will not cook meat unless needed to feed an animal. MAGA types "need not apply". Returning Clients: If I appear unavailable for your needs, please message me to see if I can accommodate.

- Prefer to meet prior to see if it's a good fit for the furry one(s) and learn about needs, preferences, diet, etc. Also like to review and touch base prior to starting to sit, and I can usually be at your home for "handoff" and return if wanted/best. I do need reliable/secure wi-fi/internet for sittings.
