Safety, trust & environment

I’m happy to follow your lead on taking care of your pets. I understand they have personalities & can’t all be treated the same. Also, you may have specific needs or requests. You are the one who knows your pet & home best—I am good at following directions. At this point, I’m not able to take care of pets in my home, because I have my own cats (who really don’t want to be disturbed ha ha!)

Information Scott G. would like to know about your pet

I would really prefer for you to tell me about your pet. What do they respond to best? What do they like to do for fun? Do they want rough play, gentle petting, long walks? Do they do anything weird I should know about? And, of course, any health issues.

A typical day

For drop-in visits, I would love to play with your pet, but I understand that each pet plays differently and what might be fun for Fido might not be for Fluffy. Anyway, tell me the best way to play with your pet! For walks, I would probably first stay on the streets near your house—is there a park nearby your dog likes? Once your dog and I get to know each other maybe we’d want to go on some longer hikes, but only if appropriate.

Pet care experience

I’m 51 and have had pets my entire life. I have two kids (now adults), have my own business, volunteer for charities, etc., I am responsible, don’t worry. I’m hoping to find local dogs that need exercise. I am fairly new to Portland, and my favorite way of exploring a new city is on foot!

Honey knows it's Friday — she's at the door waiting for Scott. That alone says everything. She's leash reactive and not the easiest dog to walk, but Scott handles her with calm patience every single time. He's also great at communicating — any schedule adjustments are always clear and timely. We wish he could walk her every day!
