Dog Whisperer

I have loved taking care of dogs my whole life. I am an Eagle Scout. A retired dog musher, I have run 3 Iditarods, the Yukon Quest, and was one of 3 Americans invited by the Soviet Government to run the first Hope race from Nome to Anadyr USSR. I volunteered at the Iditarod dropped dog lot, volunteered at Anchorage Animal Control for morning potty breaks, and am an advanced trainer for 4Paws, a service dog organization. But my love for dogs isn’t just for sled dogs, I’m very good with all sorts of dog temperaments and breeds.

Scott is the best dog sitter we've ever had. Our boy is an anxious dog but he is always calm around Scott. I know when he stays with Scott he is well taken care of and given lots of attention.

Scott was excellent from the meet and greet to returning our dog to us at the end of our trip. It was great getting photos of her while we were away to know what they were up to too. He got her out for walks and threw her frisbee until she was too tired to chase it anymore! So nice to have a reliable sitter watch such an important member of our family while we’re away and can’t bring her with us.

Scott is Maggie’s home away from home. She eagerly greets him when we leave her there and hesitates before agreeing to come home with us.

Scott is very great with our dog Rebel. Our dog is high energy and a rascal but that was no challenge for Scott! Rebel gets very excited when pulling up to Scott’s home and took right to him. We would recommend Scott to anyone!

Scott was a great home away from home for our dog! He sent us photos and updates and took great care of our furry guy. I would wholeheartedly recommend Scott and we'll look forward to hopefully booking him again in the future!

Scott is absolutely the dog whisperer without a doubt. He is wonderful!! My 9 year old Aussie has never been left with anyone because it makes me a nervous wreck...from the 1st moment I met Scott I felt totally comfortable and had no problem dropping Calypso off with him for a few days. He sent me pictures and updates daily, I don't think he wanted to leave!! I would recommend Scott to anyone and I will definitely be using him again. 5 stars 🌟 all day long!

Calendar and availability

Schedule

I am retired and have a very flexible schedule. I go for walks in Far North Bicentennial park or around the Stuckagain neighborhood daily for exercise.

Where your pet will stay

Home characteristics

Lives in a house
Has an unfenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has no pets
No children present
Dogs not allowed on bed
Dogs not allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 2-4 hours

Safety, trust & environment

I only take one reservation at a time, so your pup will have the place and my attention all to their self! My yard is not fenced, but have an 8 x 20 kennel with a roof if needed. Any time a dog goes outside they are on a leash. After we have bonded I will play fetch or frisbee in the yard off leash if approved by owner. Dogs are not allowed on the bed or furniture, but I have several comfortable dog beds for them. At night they sleep on a dog bed on the floor next to my bed or in an extra large kennel if necessary.

A typical day

We go for walks in Bi Centennial Park and around the neighborhood, play games, become part of the family, & lovingly work on bad habits.

I like to know a dogs special needs especially any medications and feeding schedule, what they like to do, and any bad habits to watch out for.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
