I am a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music. Currently, I am dog walking & sitting full time, so my schedule allows me to watch your pets on afternoons, evenings, and weekends! Starting September, I will be looking for pets that need walks around 3pm or later, as I will be starting my time as a public school student teacher.

Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets, my full attention is always on them and nothing else. I am very experienced with signs of anxiety, aggression, and uneasiness in dogs and will ensure a safe environment for them and me.

Information Sarah M. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know about any behavioral issues— including but not limited to dog-based aggression, guarding, dislike of children, etc. I would also like to know about any allergies/medical conditions. It would be great to hear about activities, treats, and games your dog loves!

A typical day

I love exploring nature with dogs and know how to reinforce and teach basic commands with positive reward-based reinforcements. I know many great places around Boston that can be suitable for your pet (remote, dog friendly spaces, etc.) I will make sure your dog is having a fun, yet safe time on every walk and playtime! When on walks (30/60min), I utilize our time wisely— I use training treats & positive reinforcement to teach your dog to sit at crosswalks, sit in elevators, and redirect them away from other dogs/distractions. This not only helps them get their exercise mentally AND physically, but also teaches them proper behavior outside the home.

Pet care experience

Aside from having my own 80lb aggressive dog at home in NY, I have 3 years of experience working for the NYC Second Chance Rescue animal shelter. There, I have walked and groomed dogs, cleaned up messes, trained pets, administered medication, monitored puppy playtimes, and more. I also have experience dog sitting for family and friends. I have a great track record with dogs who have extreme behavioral issues and will work to create a loving relationship with any dog no matter their quirks! Fun fact: I have been featured on the Dodo, the animal news site, with one of my favorite pitbull rescues! Additionally, I am Fear Free Certified. I have completed extensive training courses about dog/cat behaviors to receive this certificate. With this training, I learned how to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress & improve an animal's emotional wellbeing during both shelter & home care. I also have experience with special needs dogs- specifically handicapped dogs, blind dogs, and deaf dogs. I am able to tailor my care to fit your dog’s needs under any circumstance. When you book with me, you are guaranteeing a calm, loving environment for your pup while you are away. I work to create a bond with every pup & will genuinely love them as if they are one of my own.

Sarah has been fabulous! She is so responsive and communicative, sending me updates way in advance of any scheduling conflicts she might have. She also has been so gracious accommodating changes to my own schedule! I couldn't recommend her more!
