I have always had a love for animals, especially dogs. I volunteer with ICAN to care for future service dogs, giving volunteers hosting the puppies a respite. These two-hour sessions involve introducing the puppies to new experiences, noting their reactions to activities, and getting them accustomed to human interaction. Part of the training for the Litter Sitter position requires watching a two-hour instructional video. I also took ICAN’s Foundations Class, which had several online sessions followed by two in-person training nights. This class was not required for the Litter Sitter position. Other activities include Purdue's Senior Boiler Vet Camp, which I attended in the summer of 2024. There I enjoy the exposure to the veterinary medicine field. Lastly, I currently work at a vet clinic as a Kennel Assistant, cleaning rooms and doing laundry to help the clinic run smoothly. I care for the clinic cats, making sure they are fed and keeping their area clean. I also assist the techs when requested.
