I currently have a german shepherd that I exercise twice a day either by walking, hiking, fetching or chasing hose water. Typically, I do one of these activities in the morning and one in the evening. My dog is free fed throughout the day, but I am familiar with dogs that prefer the routine of scheduled feeding or don't have self control, so I am comfortable following the routine that the dog is used to. I have a great walkable neighborhood, but I am very familiar with great places to walk and hike with dogs throughout the city. I am a grad student with lots of flexibility so my schedule is different from week to week, during the summer I will have lots of time each day to spend with your pup, but during the year I will provide excersize but less one-on-one time.

Safety, trust & environment
I have a fenced in yard and a 1900 square foot home with hard surfaced floors. I don't allow my dogs on furniture, but if your dog is used to it, that is not currently a concern. My fences are sturdy and chain link, and about four feet tall. I prefer dogs that are crate trained overnight, and am happy to provide my own crates for them to sleep in. If they are not, I would happy to set up a play pen environment for them to be in!

Information Sarah Jane D. would like to know about your pet
Let me know what relaxes your pet and helps them feel comfortable. My dog, for example doesn't like strangers petting the top of her head, but she loves it when people pet her throat and chest area. Does your pet prefer constant attention or do they prefer to chew and play on their own while you are in the room?
A typical day
I love to play with my dog several times a day. When we walk its either around our quiet shady neighborhood, or just around the corner at the arboretum or hurricane creek. For dogs that are very calm on walks, I love to go to the tuscaloosa river walk so that have an opportunity to sniff the trees where tons of dogs have been. At home, I have taught my dog seveal games to wear out her energy. We either fetch outside in the backyard, play with the hose, or I hide treats around the house for her to sniff and seek. For lower energy pets, I am happy to keep them company. I love cuddly animals and I am happy to stop and read on park benches and pavillions for older or calmer dogs.

Pet care experience
I am super flexible and comfortable with dog care. I currently have an energetic young german shepherd so I understand the importance of dogs getting lots of exercise so that they can relax throughout the day. The main breeds I have experience with are Labs/Retrievers, German Shepherds, Beagles, Mixed Breed herding dogs, and Horses! I understand when dogs want to play and when they need their own space to relax.

Sara Jane was wonderful. Frisky friended her almost instantly. The added pics was a bonus. Will book again.

Sarah Jane did a great job. She was easy to work with and our dogs loved her.

Sara Jane did a great job keeping our cat company and fed/watered! Super communicative and easy going!
