I work from home as a graphic designer! I'm also in the process of becoming a medical assistant, so am taking classes locally one day a week. I'm typically home, except to run errands, appts, a class, and the occasional client meeting. When I have a dog staying with me I do my best to not leave unless truly necessary. And usually if I plan to be away at all, Tyler is able to stay home.

I have a large fenced-in yard, and I actually just never let out my dog without me being out there supervising. I was always nervous about that with my other dog, so it's a habit - plus I love being out there with them! I have a large basement, as well as an empty-ish back room we use as a gym. I typically feel the safest leaving them in that room when I have to leave the house. I have a Furbo video camera as well to keep my tabs on them! We also have a large crate if your dog feels comforted by being in that when we aren't home. They are also welcome to free roam the house with my dog, but I prefer to wait until we really know eachother and feel fully comfortable with that as an option.

Information Sarah H. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know how they greet new people, as Luka howls/barks and is weary of new people at the front door typically. I would like to know how they are with other dogs. I would never introduce or involve your dog with any dog other than Luka. But I would like to know if I need to "prepare" myself on walks if they are very reactive when passing another dog, etc... but our street really is quite quiet as far as passing anyone goes. I would like to know their temperament to all different types of people, their leash manners, typical routines, and their overall health needs! I won't be introducing your dog to any children.
A typical day
I can definitely take them on walks if you'd like! I have a lot of wooded trails near me, as well as great road-routes. I also have a fenced in yard so we can play outside in the fence with a tennis ball and toys. *if you prefer me to not go on hikes, please go out of your way to let me know as that's a very typical part of our routine. I say this if you are worried about ticks and what not if your dog is not on tick prevention.*

Pet care experience
Hello, my name is Sarah! I have had dogs my entire life. A few years ago, I did a couple walks on Rover, and my husband, Tyler, and I have used Rover to board our own dogs- we have had some good and bad experiences boarding our dogs, so I realize how special and comforting it is to feel good about where you leave your dogs when you are away. Tyler is equally apart of us hosting your pup- we both love doing it. :) We lost our first dog, Nessie, this past year, after 9 years together (we got her during our last year in college). I now have an open spot for a furry friend to vacation with us now that she isn’t around. She wasn't great with other dogs, which is why I'm now interested in having dogs stay over our house, as my other dog, Luka, is good with other dogs! Nessie, who passed away, was very reactive, and had separation anxiety, so we had to learn a lot of training techniques and lifestyle changes to accommodate her more difficult behaviors. I was always worried about her when I had to drop her off for a trip- eventually we gave her anxiety medicine for times like that. I know and deeply resonate with how important a calm, enriching boarding stay is. The last year of her life, we had to give Nessie insulin for diabetes twice a day as well. My dog Luka is an awkward guy (lol) - he's 9 now, and loves a buddy to hang around with. He’s goofy, kind shy, and chill- he gets along with most dogs, but isn’t too playful. It's just him and my husband Tyler and I at home. We have a cozy dog-friendly house with a large fenced in yard. I also back up to hiking trails so i'm always exploring up there with Luka. We would love to have some fun dog sleepovers in our future! My dog Luka is very sensitive and we never ever yell, hit, or intentionally scare or mess with him. His trust is really important to me, and I would never want you to worry about your dog with me. I know my house is a new place for your dog, and I know any dog is always trying their best to acclimate and relax. I will treat your dog only with loving care, patience, and gentle kindness - with the same care that I always hope for when I have had to leave mine. You would receive tons of photos from me, and i’de make sure they have a very comfortable stay. :) Just some fun extra dog info: I grew up with a family of English springer spaniels (angels!) and then my family got a silly little mix. Then we had a havanese and an Irish setter (the best girl in the world). My mom now has a coton-havanese mix! My sister had a Bernese mountain dog and now has two cutie mutts. I ended up with two Oreo mutts who I’ve loved very much! My dream dog is an Irish wolfhound or deerhound… borzoi, afghan hound… long-nosers! :-) PS: I would *NEVER* use a shock collar or anything of the sort on your dog. If you notice in some photos of Luka wearing one while hiking, I do keep a shock collar while we go on off-leash hikes on him *just in case* he decides it's the day to chase a deer or something. He's great off leash when I hike, but that's just an extra precaution I take. I would also *obviously* never have your dog off leash *EVER*. The end :)
Reviews

Sarah and her husband are simply amazing! They took care of our furry babies as if they were their own. The communication was flawless, she also takes and send wonderful pictures. Thank you so much!
Sarah is amazing! She is responsive, caring, kept us posted with pictures and videos. Our Sadie is 10. We have previously left her with friends, family, our vet’s kennel, etc. Sarah hands down provided the most peace of mind that our Sadie was part of her family while there. Sadie came home missing Sarah, her husband Tyler, and their dog Luka!

Sarah is the perfect sitter. She is caring and attentive and has a wonderful setup. Her dog, Luka, is friendly and got along well with Ulla. I recommend her highly, and we will use her again. Thanks Sarah!
Sarah and her husband did an amazing job with our English Setter! The entire booking process was smooth and they kept us informed though pictures and texts the entire time we were away. They have a great space with a nice house and wonderful fenced yard and were happy to take the dog out for exercise. She was also happy to administer some meds our dog needed for a few days. Their own dog was very friendly and made it super fun for our guy to have a friend for a few days. We had a great experience from start to finish and highly recommend Sarah!
