Just your every day animal lover :)
Pet care experience
I started walking my next door neighbor’s Boston Terrier when I was around 10. She knew I was an animal lover, and even let me experiment with some training with her pup. This led to me getting into agility training and just general dog training, which I have started to pick back up again. I am known as the family dog sitter, as my family has a combination of Pit Bulls, Bernedoodles, and hunting breeds, so I’ve worked with dogs of all shapes and sizes and stubbornness! Aside from dogs, I grew up volunteering at shelters where I adopted my own cat when I was 15, and eventually even landed a job as a zookeeper! As far as my own pets go, I currently keep it to my cat, fish and my wonderful Bearded Dragon, Albus. From my own pets, work experience, and love of training, I really have worked with everything from lizards to rodents to dogs to elephants! One consistency throughout my experience is my love for animals, and my passion to improve the quality of their life! Specific skills: - Puppy/Adult dog training - Hoofstock care and training (goats, horses, exotics) - Reptile care
Reviews
As a certified dog trainer and former pet sitter myself, I can say Sarah is the best pet sitter we have ever had, and we've worked with several over the years. She was extremely professional, communicative, and reliable. She did a fantastic job caring for our three dogs while we went on vacation. She sent adorable pictures and regularly updated us on their day-to-day activities. Not only did Sarah do a wonderful job caring for our pups, but she also took excellent care of our home. I think she left it in better condition than when we left, even making it a special return home, just for us. I have never felt more comfortable leaving my dogs with anyone else than I have when Sarah stayed here and cared for them. I am pretty sure my dogs were very sad that their staycation with Sarah was over when we came home. I look forward to the next time we can have Sarah petsit our pups again!!
Sarah is such a great communicator, we had the pleasure of meeting her Wednesday and she was walking Tully on Friday! So informative and does a great job with him. Very happy we have someone we can depend on!
Sarah did a great job taking care of Phoebe and Oakley, very attentive and great communication. I would recommend her and book her again.
Sarah is great! Always very responsive and keeps me up to date during her visits. You can tell she is a true animal lover. Happy to recommend!!

Safety, trust & environment
I am able to stay over at a pet owner’s home if needed, however I prefer to host pets in my own home whenever possible. I currently have a 1 year old mixed breed who absolutely LOVES having the company! As always, your pet’s safety is my number one concern. I am trained in identifying and understanding animal behavior and will not put your animal in a position where they do not feel safe. I am also a huge advocate for leash laws and ADA regulations protecting service dogs, so these will always be respected and enforced in my care. I am a huge advocate for animal enrichment, working as a zookeeper in the past taught me how important mental stimulation is for an animal, and how when paired with proper exercise can mitigate behavioral issues in pets. This is something I would love to bring to the table for my clients!

Information Sarah H. would like to know about your pet
It is important to know if your dog has any health needs or allergies. I also like to know if a dog is reactive and has triggers whether it be other dogs, strangers, etc. Knowing what can possibly set off a reactive dog beforehand is super helpful in maintaining a safe environment for me and your pet. I also love knowing what their favorite toys are, their favorite treats, and what behaviors/commands they know!
A typical day
I love giving dogs a lot of physical and mental stimulation. I usually use slow feeders or fillable toys to get them to use their nose and think for their food. I also spend time desensitizing/socializing dogs to “scary” things, so long walks in new locations are always a staple. My favorite thing to work on is training, so I am always open to hearing about what your dog knows how to do or what you would like for them to learn!

Availability
I currently work from home, so I have the availability to work from wherever I need to. This also gives me the option to walk/train during my breaks. I have weekend availability as needed as well.
