Long time pet sitter, new to Rover
I grew up with cats and have cared for them practically my whole life. I had a dog, that I trained from a puppy, in my 20s, and have cared for many other people’s dogs as well (including senior dogs). I also had fish and a frog as a teenager and have some minimal experience caring for rabbits and hamsters too. My current cats are formerly feral, one of whom is extremely anxious and takes daily medication for her anxiety so I understand how to care for especially nervous and skittish kitties. I’m also familiar with the signs of UTIs in cats and can be on the look out for them if your cat is prone to them. I have been a pet sitter for friends and family my whole adult life and am excited to expand my services to others in the community.

Safety, trust & environment
Upon first meeting new animals it’s important to allow them to come to me first. I get on their level and allow them to approach me to help establish myself as a safe person. I try to be a calm presence, using slow and deliberate movements; for cats I slow blink at them, for dogs, I avoid direct eye contact. I extend a fist for both cats and dogs and they can decide if they’d like to be touched by me. From there I pay attention to body language and suggestions from you on where your pet prefers pets and scratches. Play and treats (if allowed) are also really helpful in building a trusting relationship. As for other care - feeding, meds and walks, I follow the instructions you provide.

Sarah cares deeply about the wellbeing of pets. When she is caring for my cat, I am not worried snd trust that he will be well taken care of. She is thoughtful, dependable, and communicative in her approach.
Sarah is reliable and a careful listener. She asks questions to clarify, and always gives my girls the best care I could ask for. She doesn't leave a trace of her presence beyond two happy, emotionally connected cats.
I’ve known Sarah a very long time and in all that time she has always and pets and loved them like crazy! Many times over the years, she looked after my cat Rufus and cared for him as if he were hers! She is caring and thoughtful, and I would not hesitate to hire her again
Sarah took fantastic care of my elderly English bulldog, Sadie Mae. Sarah is a trustworthy, diligent and thoughtful pet caregiver. My dog thrives on stability, consistency, and quality time, and she had these needs met by Sarah. When there was a health concern, Sarah took a photo of the problem and texted it to me. It didn't end up to be a big deal, but I was grateful to know Sarah was on it and keeping me in the loop. I used to live in the same neighborhood as Sarah and remember she took upon herself to help a group of abandoned kittens. She made sure they were safe, fed, watered, sheltered, and received medical attention. Sarah has a huge heart for animals, along with a wealth of experience caring for them, and is willing to do what needs to be done to ensure animals receive proper care and love. I've since moved to a different city and it's been a challenge finding someone who lives up to Sarah. Any pet owner will be lucky to have her caring for their beloved critters.
Sarah has been a pet person since she was a toddler. There were always cats at home, and she has had pets since leaving home. She is a very caring pet guardian, taking the best care of the cats that have crossed her path over the years. She has cared for our cats (We're her parents) while we were away, even testing blood glucose and administering insulin for our diabetic cat.

Schedule
My schedule, except for very early mornings, is pretty flexible. I can be available after 9 or 10am (depending on distance from my home) until 9:00 pm almost any day of the week.

- My preference is for small to medium dog breeds or older/disabled large breeds, but I am open to larger breeds if they are very well trained and safe to be walked by strangers. I need to know if your dog has a bite history or aggression/behavioural issues. I need to know about any medical needs your pet has. I need to know about any dietary restrictions. I need to know if there are any areas on their body your pet does not like to be touched.
