Pet care experience
🐾 your pets new BFF 🐾
Hi! Thank you for visiting my profile, welcome :). A little bit about my background with dogs - I have grown up around dogs since I was five years old when my nan got me my first dog in order to keep me company as I was an only child (and gave in to my endless nagging 😂). I first had a Miniature Toy Poodle called Boe until about 12 years old, then I had a Shih Tzu called Gucci (full name Gucci Louis Boe O'Brien lol) for just over 14 years. He was the absolute bestest ♥️. My little Shih Tzu (he is in my profile picture and I like to think the face of this page) was my best friend, but he sadly passed away a couple years ago. Since then, me and my partner have been looking after friends and families pets whilst they went away and we found so much joy in it. It got to a point where we were doing it so often we thought “we could do this as a little side hustle and save for our wedding!”. At that point, we had recently got engaged, and so we thought what is more pawfect than to turn a passion into a source of income to save for our big day ☺️. We started Rover in July 2023, and we have been fortunate to have had regular customers ever since which makes us so happy and thankful! It is so lovely to build a relationship with the pawrents and pets that we look after. It’s also so lovely to see how comfortable the dogs are around us and how our relationships evolve over time as we get to know each other. It is especially rewarding when we look after anxious and timid pets at first, and after a couple hours with us they are completely relaxed and settled, and come up to us for cuddles and pets ♥️🥰. We have experience looking after puppies to senior dogs. Further, we also have experience with dogs that have to take certain medications or have allergies. My Shih Tzu unfortunately had a range of health concerns as he aged, including being blind in one eye, and so I am well versed in looking after dogs with all sorts of conditions (or lack of - hopefully!)). Whilst your pet is in our care, my first priority is to make sure your pet is safe, relaxed and well cared for. When we first meet, I don’t overwhelm them by invading their space but I let them naturally come up to me when they are ready and that seems to work pretty pawfectly (sorry, I really cannot stop 😂). I of course provide all the basic needs such as feeding, walking, and bathing (if necessary and after a muddy walk in the park!). But I also love to play and cuddle up next to them and create a loving and fun environment for them where they feel at home. It is important for me to create a routine that is similar to what they are already used to. I find creating a similar routine helps pets adjust a little quicker. I send regular pupdates as I know it is important to keep you updated on how they are doing. On my profile it says I only send 50% updates, but that it through Rover, as I tend to take the personal contact details just in case of emergencies, and videos are easier to send over the phone as Rover doesn’t like too long of a video. I tend to send frequent updates throughout the day in the form of both photos and videos. Overall, I just aim to give your pet the best time whilst in my care. I like to think of it as though it is a little holiday for them as well :D.

Just a pleasure as always, so reassuring to know my dog is in such safe hands and always so easy to deal with. Can’t recommend enough, she is a brilliant sitter.
Sara is such a pleasure to deal with, she is flexible, communicates quickly and sends photos which is very reassuring. My dog is always thrilled to see her too! Highly recommend
Sara is so warm, nothing is too much trouble and my dog clearly loves her and her partner. I always receive photos and videos and he looks very content. I can’t thank them enough
Sara is so lovely, helpful, warm and very flexible. Sara really helped me out recently so I am very grateful. And my dog is always very excited to see her.
From the moment I dropped Rufus off I felt 100% reassured that Rufus was in safe hands. Both Sara and her partner made a huge fuss of him and I could see that he loved them instantly. I left feeling happy that he would be very well cared for and he really was. They were so helpful and flexible and sent me lots of pictures and videos. It was the perfect experience and I can’t recommend them enough.
Another fun stay. :) thank you

Schedule
I am lucky enough to be able to WFH most days and my schedule is flexible. I do not work on the weekends and have no prior commitments, therefore our sole attention is on the pets we look after. We also never leave any dogs we are looking after. Therefore, hosting a pet is pretty easy and fits in with our daily routine. At work, my hours are flexible, and so I organise my workload around both the pet I am looking after and my partners schedule.
Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
We have no children or other pets, it is simply just me and my partner. Therefore, our sole attention will always be on your pet. This is also why I do not accept two bookings at the same time, unless the pets are from the same household or they have become regulars and I know that it wouldn’t cause any issues for either pet. As a previous pet owner myself, this is how I prefer it. Even if you allow your dog off the leash, I would personally keep them on the leash at all time whilst in my care. This is because your pet might respond to you on recall, but I can appreciate we will still be fairly new to them, and therefore might not be so responsive to us. Also, I take my responsibility seriously, and you have trusted me to care for your pet in your absence, and so their safety is absolutely paramount at all times whilst in my care.
A typical day
A typical day is largely determined by the needs of the pet we are looking after. We live a 15 minute walk away from Hampstead Heath Park, Primrose Hill and Kilburn Park and so we like to go there for there for their 'big walk' during the day/evening. Also, if we think your pet needs further stimulation, with the permission of the pawrent, we use a lick mat and kong in which we put treats provided by the owners - but we do also appreciate their own enrichment exercises, toys and games to be packed by the owner ideally. I also put various dog films on in the background as it often catches the attention of my fury friends, such as 101 Dalmatians which seems to be an absolute hit. We live in a flat, but we have quite a long hallway and so we play fetch. With treats, I like to place them all around the flat so they can go on a little scavenger hunt :).
