My personal, professional, and educational experiences with animals have prepared me to understand and meet the mental and physical needs of animals. Information Sara D. would like to know about your pet

I want to know anything and everything necessary to provide your pet with the best quality care possible. Typically, this includes feeding instructions, treat information, medications, other special needs, how they like to play, how they like to be petted/interacted with, what commands and tricks they know, if they are reactive to anything (people, kids, animals), and any other information that the owner deems important!

A typical day

I aim to fulfill the unique mental and physical needs of the animals I care for. For many pets, this often entails lots of play time, walks, physical affection, practicing commands, etc. I also love to give pets enrichment, such as foraging puzzles, lick mats, or even just scattering a few treats around for the animals to stay busy when I am not directly with them. I am a big fan of long walks filled with plenty of time to sniff, too!

Pet care experience

I have been caring for animals most of my life in personal and professional capacities. As a child I grew caring for a variety of pets from cats and dogs to rodents and reptiles. In my teen years, I began offering pet sitting services on a personal basis. I joined Rover while in college for a Bachelor's in Animal Behavior. Through my studies I developed a strong understanding of animal behavior and welfare. I also built skillsets in husbandry, enrichment, and training across multiple species, domestic and wild. After graduation, I began working as an Animal Care Technician at a wildlife rehabilitation center in DC caring for injured, orphaned, and ill wildlife. Here, I continue to improve upon what I learned in college while developing new skills in veterinary medicine. All of these experiences have allowed me to hone my animal care skills across a multitude of settings and species. I am well-equipped to meet the needs of your animal(s), whatever they may be!

Sara went above and beyond to look after my two rabbits and kitty for nearly two weeks! While travelling, I knew I could count on her to provide me with thorough updates and take excellent care of the critters. I’m so grateful for the level of care she provided while I was away, and would rebook with her in a heartbeat.

Sara is amazing. She stopped by and watched my babies over the holiday and she kept me updated with a summary and pictures of how things went. My two dogs aren’t use to me leaving and she was able to transition them much quicker and easier than I expected. I will definitely be utilizing her in the future. I’m already looking at her schedule for an upcoming weekend. She deserves more than 5 stars thank you Sara you’re one of their best friends now! :-)

Sara did a great job housesitting for my dog. I received daily updates and pictures. And she left my house as clean as when we left it. She is very responsive and responsible. I highly recommend Sara!

Sara was amazing! I found her for a last minute pet sitting job, and she was able to come right over to go over my cats’ routines. While I was away, my cats, who usually don’t come out for strangers, came out to see her. One threw up and she cleaned it up, which was so kind. I really recommend Sara to anyone looking for a great pet sitter.
