A Loving Home Away From Home

I've been caring for dogs for over 10 years, but my love for animals started much earlier. I grew up surrounded by animals in the countryside. Throughout my childhood, my family always had dogs, horses, cats, rabbits, chickens, and many other animals. Caring for them wasn't just part of life, it became part of who I am. Even today, my mother still owns horses, and whenever I visit her, I enjoy helping take care of them. Dogs have always had a very special place in my heart. They aren't "clients" to me, they become temporary members of my family. My goal is for every dog to feel safe, loved, relaxed, and as comfortable as they do in their own home. I work from home, which allows me to spend most of my day with the dogs in my care. They are never left alone for long periods, and they receive constant supervision, affection, and attention throughout the day. My home is calm, clean, organized, and designed to make dogs feel comfortable. They are welcome to relax on the couch or even sleep on the bed if that's what they're used to at home. If you have different house rules, I'm more than happy to follow your routine so your dog experiences as little disruption as possible. Over the years, I've learned how to properly introduce dogs to one another, recognize different personalities, supervise interactions, separate meal times when needed, and create a peaceful environment where everyone feels comfortable. I only accept friendly, well-socialized dogs because safety always comes first. Fortunately, after more than a decade of caring for dogs, I've never had a dog escape, become injured, or experience a serious incident while staying with us. One special part of our home is my family. I have two wonderful children, ages 17 and 16, who have grown up surrounded by animals and have years of experience helping care for them. My daughter is now 17 and has a very busy schedule, so she's rarely home. My 16 year old son, however, has an incredible connection with animals. It's honestly something special to watch. Many of my regular dogs know him so well that the moment they walk through our front door, they run straight toward his bedroom looking for him before greeting anyone else. Dogs absolutely adore him, and he loves spending time playing with them whenever he's home. You'll notice photos of my children with dogs throughout my Rover profile. Many of those pictures were taken years ago, when my kids were younger. Today they're both teenagers, and because I share custody with my ex-husband, there are many days when it's just me at home caring for the dogs. Whether my children are home or not, every dog receives the same loving care, attention, and supervision from me.

Rue had a great time at Sandra’s home yesterday and we received lots of photos and videos throughout the day which we really appreciated. Sandra is great to communicate with and we knew Rue was in very good hands!

Sandra will make your dog feel like they are at the best summer camp :) She is our go-to sitter for everything… This is the one place where our dog will run out of the car straight into her house without looking back at us. You can trust your pet will be apart of the family!

Schedule

Pet care naturally fits into my daily routine because I work from home. The dogs spend the day with me while I work, usually relaxing next to my desk or following me around the house. They become part of my everyday life rather than simply being watched. I take frequent breaks throughout the day to let them outside, play with them, give them affection, or simply spend quality time together. If your dog enjoys walks, I'm happy to take them. If you prefer they stay only inside my fully fenced backyard, I'm happy to follow that routine instead. I occasionally leave the house for groceries or short errands, but dogs are rarely left alone for more than two hours. My days start early and end late, so the dogs always get one final potty break before bedtime and another first thing in the morning.

Safety, trust & environment

Your dog's safety and happiness are my highest priorities. My home has: • A large fully fenced backyard • Artificial turf that's clean and comfortable year-round • Security cameras around the property • Constant supervision throughout the day Dogs are never left unattended outside. Because I usually care for only one or a small number of compatible dogs at a time, I'm able to closely monitor their interactions and make sure everyone feels comfortable. I carefully introduce new dogs, supervise playtime, separate meals when necessary, and pay close attention to each dog's personality and comfort level. I believe dogs thrive when they feel like they're part of a family. They spend their time inside the house with me instead of being isolated. If your dog prefers sleeping in a crate, on their own bed, or in bed with people, I'll happily follow the routine they're already familiar with. 🔔Private Stays Some families prefer their dog to be the only guest in my home. I'm happy to offer exclusive stays whenever my schedule allows. Since reserving my home exclusively means I cannot accept other bookings during that time, an additional fee applies. Feel free to ask me if you're interested in this option.

A typical day

Every dog has their own personality, so I try to make each day feel as close as possible to their routine at home. A typical day usually includes: • Morning potty break and breakfast • Relaxing with me while I work from home • Frequent trips outside throughout the day • Playtime in the backyard • Lots of cuddles, attention, treats (if approved), and affection • Quiet naps inside the house • Evening potty break before bedtime Some dogs love to play, while others simply enjoy lying beside me while I work. Whatever makes your dog happiest, I do my best to provide that experience. Above all, my goal is for every dog to feel loved, secure, and completely at home.

To provide the best care possible, I'd love to learn more about your dog before their stay. Please let me know: • Is your dog friendly with other dogs? • Has your dog stayed with a sitter before? If so, how did it go? • Does your dog have separation anxiety? If yes, would you describe it as mild, moderate, or severe? • Does your dog have any allergies, medications, or medical conditions? • What is their feeding schedule and portion size? • Are treats allowed? If yes, are there any restrictions? • Where does your dog normally sleep (bed, crate, dog bed, etc.)? • Can your dog be left alone for short periods? • Are there any fears or triggers I should know about (thunder, fireworks, vacuum, etc.)? • Are there any behaviors that help your dog feel more comfortable in a new environment? • Is there anything else you'd like me to know that will help your dog have the best possible stay? 🚨A quick note: I only accept friendly dogs that can safely coexist with other dogs. If your dog has a history of aggression toward people or other dogs, I may not be the right fit. If your dog experiences severe separation anxiety that causes extreme stress while away from home, please let me know before requesting a booking. I always want to make sure my home is the right environment for every dog, and honesty upfront helps create the best experience for everyone.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
