Pet care experience

Day & overnight sitting my home!

Hi, I’m Sandra! Dogs have been part of our family for more than 25 years, and we’ve always believed they deserve to be treated as family—not simply cared for as pets. I’m a retired nurse and now home full-time, which gives me the opportunity to spend my days doing something I truly love—caring for dogs. That’s how Barks and Beds Carrollwood came to be. Dogs staying with me become part of our home while they’re here. They can relax on the couch, play, cuddle, enjoy our large fully fenced backyard, and settle in just as they would at home. I’m here throughout the day to provide plenty of attention, companionship, and supervision. I intentionally keep my care personal and home-based rather than creating the feel of a traditional boarding facility. I take time to learn each dog’s personality, routine, favorite things, and what makes them feel most comfortable. After 25+ years of loving and caring for our own dogs, I know how important it is to feel completely comfortable with the person caring for yours. My goal is simple: while you’re away, your dog has a safe, comfortable and loving home away from home. Barks and Beds Carrollwood 🐾

Sandra has been pet owner for over 20 years. She has always been attentive and loving to the pets she has owned. She has also pet-sat for many pets over the years and has always shown the same love and attention to those pets as well as her own. She truly loves animals and is an excellent pet caregiver.

Schedule

Pet care is part of every minute of my day, and it truly brings me joy. I’m a retired registered nurse and now home full-time, so caring for the dogs isn’t something I have to fit around a work schedule—it’s simply part of my life. From morning routines and meals to backyard play, walks, cuddles, and quiet time, I’m here throughout the day. I genuinely love having the dogs around me, getting to know their individual personalities, and making sure they feel happy, comfortable, safe, and loved while they’re here.

Safety, trust & environment

I care for every dog in my home just as I care for my own dogs—as a member of the family. They share our home and our large, fully fenced yard and are included in our daily life. My priority is making sure every dog feels safe, comfortable, loved, and at home while their family is away. I’m home full-time, so they receive plenty of companionship, affection, playtime, supervision, and individual attention throughout the day. My goal is for every dog who stays with me to feel like they’re part of the family from the moment they arrive.

Pets

A typical day

A typical day starts with a relaxed drop-off and time to get settled, explore, and become comfortable in our home. From there, the day is a comfortable mix of playtime, outdoor time in our fully fenced yard, meals according to each dog’s normal schedule, rest and relaxation, and lots of cuddling and individual attention. I follow each dog’s usual routine as closely as possible so their stay feels familiar and stress-free. Since I’m home full-time, the dogs are part of my day rather than being left alone for long periods. Whether they want to play, lounge on the couch, follow me around the house, nap, or just enjoy some extra love, they’re treated just like our own dogs—as part of the family.

Before your dog’s stay, I like to learn everything I can about them so I can keep their routine as familiar, comfortable, and safe as possible. I’ll want to know that vaccinations are current, along with any medical conditions, allergies, medications or special needs. I also like to know their normal feeding and potty schedule, favorite activities, sleeping habits, and anything that helps them feel comfortable away from home. Just as important, please tell me about your dog’s personality and behavior—including how they interact with other dogs and people, any fears or anxiety, resource guarding, escape tendencies, triggers, or history of aggressive behavior or biting. I’ll also want current veterinarian information and an emergency contact. No detail is too small. The more I know about your dog ahead of time, the better I can make their stay at Barks and Beds feel safe, happy, and as much like home as possible. 🐾
