Pet care experience

good with the shy guys.

My time as a dog dad taught me how to listen to a 'lil guy' that just doesn't have any words. I was fascinated just watching my guy roam around the world and through paying this deep attention to him we quickly found a way to communicate with one another. Training became an opportunity to build a shared vocabulary between us and to well, have a companion I could take into every element of my life. We went from shy ex racing greyhound to a public transport loving, adventure going, confident 'lil guy'. I also paid a great deal of attention to my guys food, I knew all the things that he couldn't have, the things he could have in small amounts, and the things that actually gave him too much energy. Which I didn't think was possible for a greyhound but most dogs should be tired after a 3 hour walk, he wasn't - it was hydro-carbolised starch by the way. And the usual introduction to dogs, family dogs. From the age of 8 years old and onwards I grew up with dogs. I was the one who showed the most interest intaking them to training classes and also happened to be the one that bonded with them the most through 'playing' or just existing together. Heath, my parents 15 year old Staffie still play fights with me and no one else.

We’ve worked with Sam for a year now and I cannot recommend him enough. He is the kindest, most caring dog friend you could ever wish to have looking after your precious dogs. He is an expert with sighthounds but also loves other breeds and has a calming and trustworthy presence. We trust him and he is welcome at all times in our home! Thank you Sam! 🐾🖤🐾🖤

Sam a very responsible and attentive pet caregiver, he has an incredible way with animal and especially dogs, a true connection and bond that quickly gets formed out of respect and affection. He looked after my greyhound with such genuine and gentle car, being attentive to all his needs (he could sometimes be reactive to small furry friends and very shy with other dogs) always kept him out of troubles and I definitely can say he helped me learn how to communicate better with my dear pup. He showed me how to listen and also has a very keen interest in dog nutrition, listen to his suggestions! I definitely seen such a beautiful improvement in my dog behaviour, very quickly becoming best friends. I can't recommend Samuel enough, if you are looking for someone you want to trust your furry companion with, Samuel is DEFINITELY the right person for you. His dedication, knowledge and kindness is incredible and admirable!

Schedule

I currently work part time and freelance so my schedule has plenty of time for dogs. the more time with dogs the better to be honest. I'll be looking to transition out of part-time work to just freelance and doggy day care. I wake up at the same time most mornings and would either go for a walk or to the gym, I love working from home when I'm not working part time so having the company would suit me greatly. If I don't need to leave the home I do love being a bit of a home body, cooking, reading, making and taking breaks to walk around the block or in the garden break up my ideal day.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a really wonderful (and very safe) building in Kemptown and I have access to the best private garden in Brighton (Sussex square). This is also means I'm next to the beach and not far from East Brighton park, so we have a little bit of everything.

A typical day

Breakfast for all, get ready then go! I love going for walks and letting watching dogs explore and navigate the world, big believer in listening to the dog so that you can find a mutual way to 'communicate'. after that it would be a lovely long stint at home, chilling and or playing. Ill have the odd bit off admin to tend to, both dog and I will be fed and watered and perhaps a nap. then if your hound is okay to be left (this will be discussed) I'd go to the gym, come back home and go for walk number two. This can be a garden visit or a long walk depending on what your dog wants. Final chapter of the day is more unwinding than anything else, a bit of mental stimulation either through play or a little food puzzle of sorts and a final garden visit before bed.

Any dietary requirements and behavioural traits. The more I know the better. Are there any sounds they don't like, any random bits you've noticed. For example Arti -my greyhound, was terrified of ceiling fans.
