Friends say I’m more dog than human
I have owned and operated my own pet care business for five years now, though I have provided waking and sitting services for over a decade. Caring for pets has been a beloved “side hustle” of mine throughout my adult life. Three years ago, I left my career in nonprofit management to make my “side hustle” my full time gig. Caring for animals is pure joy to me. I love being outside, I love getting exercise without forcing myself to exercise. I love how excited most of my clients are to see me. (There are a few cats that hide under the bed when I come.) But mostly, I love developing a bond with your pets. (And, sometimes, you!) I’m currently full for daily, ongoing dog walking services. I am still booking shorter-term dog walks. I’m also happy to “sub” for your regular dog walker who might be taking time off. During the pandemic, I took some time to study and develop my dog training skills. While I am not yet a certified trainer, I have successfully helped clients with everything from basic obedience training, leash manners, reactivity issues, separation anxiety, potty training, reliable recall and even taught clients some fun tricks. I’m happy to discuss ways in which I might help train your dog in addition to other services. I use gentle, humane, positive reinforcement methods only. What you can expect when I board your pets: -Your pets will be loved and cared for as if they’re my own, -Your pets will be taken care of according to the instructions you leave, -Your dog will be safe and secure - safety is always my top priority, -Your dogs will go on adventures (as long as it’s ok with you) - hikes, dog parks, other outdoor or indoor fun, -With the exception of quick errands or occasional appointments, I am home with the dogs at all times. When away, I have live cameras so I can keep an eye on the dogs when I’m out, -And you will receive daily updates with photos and videos about how your pets are doing. ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: I do board multiple dogs at a time, usually no more than 3. I do meet and greets with all dogs I board and temperament test them with my own dog. I only take dogs who are friendly with other dogs. I also have my own dog, a 7-year old Labrador who has never met a dog she doesn’t like. She has been caring for other dogs with me since she was a puppy, so she’s a “pro” at welcoming new dogs into our home. She comes with me to all meet and greets. If you read my client comments, you’ll see that my dog, JoeBiden, is often the highlight of my clients’ stay. Safety is my top priority - the physical and emotional safety of your pets. As such, I do require a brief meet and greet with all new clients prior to booking. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Samm took such good care of our dog, was very communicative, and sent lots of photos and videos which we greatly appreciated.
Samm was great! It was the first time we left our dog with someone we didn't know personally, and Samm made it obvious during our first meeting that she cared about dogs and would be taking good care of Finn. He ended up having stomach issues during the visit (likely caused by anxiety over being in a new place), but Samm kept us updated and took very good care of him while he was sick. Thank you, Samm.

Schedule
Taking care of pets is my full time job. Your pets become totally integrated into my life when in my care. The amount of time I’m away from home while caring for your pet varies based on the bookings I have at the time of service. But the dogs I board always are my top priority. I’m very transparent about scheduling and availability. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions.

A typical day
I live at Magnuson Park. Yes, IN the park. Daily walks or swims at the park is my normal, everyday routine. Depending on the dog, I enjoy taking the dogs for fun field trips to off-leash parks, on hikes, to the beach, etc. I’ve taken clients camping on the coast and camping in the mountains. It really depends on how well the dog and I know each other and what the owner feels comfortable with. I’m always scouting new, interesting places to take my clients. It keeps adventure alive for me and my clients love it!
