A typical day with me is all about keeping your pets happy, relaxed, and engaged in a way that fits their personality. For cats I board, that might look like cozy nap spots, gentle play with wand toys, treat puzzles, or just quiet company if they’re more on the shy side. I let them explore, settle in, and enjoy a calm, comfy space where they can feel safe. For dogs I walk or visit, we mix in fun enrichment like sniff‑walks, “find it” games, treat puzzles, or a little fetch or tug if that’s their thing. I follow a sniff‑first approach on walks so they can take their time and enjoy the world at their own pace. If I’m house sitting, I keep their routine as close to normal as possible with plenty of check‑ins, cuddles, playtime, and downtime. No matter the pet, I keep things calm, positive, and comforting so they feel understood, cared for, and totally at ease while they’re with me.

I’ve pretty much always had animals around me. At home, through fostering, and from volunteering at our local shelter so pet care is just part of my everyday life. I’ve handled everything from goofy, high‑energy pups who want an adventure day in the city to comforting a very sick cat through his last moments. My fiancée worked at the same shelter for four years, so I picked up tons of hands‑on tips from her too, and it really shaped the way I care for every animal I meet. I’ve watched all kinds of pets: my fiancée’s sister’s two dogs (a tiny, dramatic Frenchie and a big, lovable Lab), plenty of cats with big personalities, and lots of shelter dogs who needed a confidence‑boosting day out. I’m comfortable with shy pets, excited pets, nervous pets — all of them. I’ve also given medication, done enrichment activities, and helped pets settle in when they’re feeling unsure. Whether your pet wants couch cuddles, a neighborhood walk, or a full‑on dog birthday party (yes, we actually hosted one, treats, games, the whole thing), I’m all about making them feel safe, happy, and loved. We cannot say enough wonderful things about Samira for dog sitting our French Bulldog and Labrador in our home! Leaving our dogs with someone especially our Lab who requires seizure medication 3 times a day — was something we took very seriously. They were able to stay comfortable in their normal environment and routines, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Giving seizure medication multiple times a day requires consistency and trust, and Samira handled it flawlessly. Knowing our dog was receiving the proper care and attention meant everything to us.
