My biggest priority when caring for a dog or cat is their safety and comfort. My own dog is quite anxious and has many quirks and I’m sure your dog is the same. I want to make each dog feel as comfortable and secure as possible. To accomplish this, I would love to know any specific commands or preferences you have with your dog so that we can all have the best experience possible.

I do not have any breed preferences because I believe the behavior of a dog is heavily reliant on how they are trained, not necessarily their breed characteristics. I would like to know their bathroom routine and how frequently they usually exercise. I would also like to respect any specific commands or routines you have with your own dog, such as: heeling during a walk, walking on a specific side, sitting while their harness is being attached, etc.
A typical day
I live in a dog-friendly neighborhood with a few parks within walking distance. I love walking the James River Trail, Canal Walk, or up to the parks in Church Hill.

Pet care experience
I am a life-time dog lover with many years of experience caring for and training dogs. I have an educational background in nutrition and animal science that has provided me with the tools to promote a healthy lifestyle for both humans and their companion animals. I work in healthcare, but I am lucky enough to have the flexibility of working from home. I love to care for dogs, big or small, in my free time. I live an active lifestyle and love running and going for long walks around the neighborhood. I understand that each pet parent has their own set of rules and expectations for the care of their animal so communication with each client is very important to me. Whether your pet needs additional exercise, a mid-day potty break, or a few rounds of tug of war, I am here to help!

Sam watched out two cats over a long weekend without any issues. When
Samantha has been great with my dog Ellie! Ellie is afraid of everyone she meets, but she has seemed to warm up to Samantha quite well after just 2 walks. Samantha’s rover reports are very detailed and she makes sure to work on training exercises in addition to the walks and some playtime.
Samantha did an amazing job! Our trip was worry free knowing that our puppy was being well cared for!
