Pet care experience

Experienced Pet-Loving Family

We’re an animal-loving family with many years of experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, and other pets. After fostering dogs, we adopted a rescue dog who was part of our family from approximately 2020 until 2025. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to him last year, and we still miss having a dog in the house. Because we travel regularly and may relocate in the future, we’ve decided not to adopt another dog right now. Rover gives us the opportunity to enjoy having dogs around while providing them with a safe, comfortable, family environment while their owners are away. Our daughters are now 22, 20, and 13, and they’ve grown up around animals. Our middle daughter, Grace, has experience pet sitting and dog walking, and our youngest has also cared for a neighbor’s dog. When a dog stays with us, the whole family enjoys having them here and treats them much like we would our own pet. I work on a flexible schedule and am home much of the time, so dogs would generally not be left alone for more than a couple of hours at a time. We live on more than an acre in a quiet, gated community with peaceful neighborhood roads, a private park, small lakes, and plenty of nearby places for walks and exploring. We’re happy to follow your dog’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, sleeping arrangements, and any special instructions. We know how important it is to feel comfortable with the people caring for your pet. Our goal is to give your dog a safe, relaxed stay with plenty of companionship, attention, walks, and affection while you’re away. We look forward to meeting you and your pet!

Sam has always been good with animals. As a child he had a cat that trusted him enough to get in the bathtub with him. He was so calm and patient that he coaxed a wild chipmunk to eat out of his hand. He has always had a love animals and passed that same love to his daughters. He can be trusted to care for any pet put in his responsibility.

This family is awesome! Any one of them would make excellent pet parents! They are honest and hardworking. Their hearts are generous and thoughtful. Very intelligent and extremely kind. I have seen them love animals of all species. With pets they understand the balance between leadership and friendship. If you need excellent pet parents, you should hire them! :)

Schedule

I work on a flexible schedule and am home much of the day, so pet care fits easily into our normal routine. Dogs staying with us get regular attention, walks, outdoor time, and plenty of time with the family. They would generally not be left alone for more than a couple of hours at a time, and we do our best to follow their usual feeding, walking, and daily routine.

Safety, trust & environment

We treat pets staying with us like part of the family and do our best to keep their routine as familiar and comfortable as possible. We follow each owner’s instructions for feeding, walks, medications, sleeping arrangements, and any special needs or habits. Dogs get plenty of attention and supervised outdoor time, along with regular walks in our quiet neighborhood. We’re careful about doors, leashes, and transitions in and out of the house, especially with dogs who may be anxious or prone to wandering in a new environment. We also want owners to feel comfortable while they’re away, so we’re happy to provide regular updates and photos and to communicate about anything unusual we notice during their stay.

A typical day

A typical day includes plenty of attention, walks around our quiet neighborhood, and outdoor play. Depending on your dog’s age, energy level, and normal routine, walks may range from a short stroll to a few miles. We have plenty of space for fetch, play, and supervised time outside, and we often enjoy trips to the beach when the weather and the dog are a good fit for it. We’re also happy to keep things more relaxed for dogs who prefer shorter walks, lounging with the family, or just having some company.

Please let us know about your dog’s normal routine, feeding schedule, favorite activities, toys, and sleeping habits. We’d also like to know about any medications, allergies, anxieties, triggers, escape tendencies, or other special care needs. It’s also helpful to know how your dog does with new people, other dogs, being left alone for short periods, car rides, and changes in routine. The more we know ahead of time, the easier it is for us to help your dog feel comfortable and at home.
