Safety, trust & environment

Prior to the start of services, I am happy to meet in person at no cost to you in order to become familiar with each other, provide an initial introduction for your pet, go over instructions and exchange keys/necessary information. Safety is my top priority, and I am happy to work with you to determine the best care for your pet. Due to my experience, I have a wealth of knowledge in animal care and am highly accustomed to monitoring animals for signs of abnormalities. Attention to detail is my strong suit.

Information Sam H. would like to know about your pet

Transparency from owners in regards to their pet’s behavior and health will allow me to provide the best possible care for them. Information regarding their motivators, fears/stressors, comforts, and preferences is excellent to know prior to the start of services. It is also important to discuss any current or recurring health issues, medications, allergies, dietary restrictions and/or requirements and health concerns. During our initial meeting, we can also discuss their typical daily routine, feeding/pooping schedule, and regular walking route.

A typical day

We can discuss what your pet prefers, as some are homebodies and others are explorers. I will adjust to each individual pet’s needs and comfortability. We can spend the day in your backyard, or take a trip to a nearby trail or park. I am very physically active and can provide long walks and plenty of exercise. My overnight rate includes a maximum of 6 hours away from your home per day, unless otherwise discussed.

Pet care experience

Hello! I have 11 years of professional pet care experience, and 17 years of pet sitting experience. NAPPS Certified. Pet First Aid Certified by the American Red Cross. My career in animal welfare has provided me with every tool necessary to give your pet the best care possible. I have been professionally trained by the MSPCA’s Director of Behavior in positive reinforcement and clicker training. My career experience includes aiding in medical care, administering medications, supervising playgroups, implementing behavior plans, grooming and transporting dogs, participating in vaccination clinics, handling dogs for weddings/events.. the list goes on. I am comfortable with dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments. I am also comfortable and familiar with small animals such as rabbits, ferrets, and rodents. My specialties include shy/nervous pets, senior pets, and long walks with active dogs. My training style is gentle, patient, and reward based. I have a wealth of experience caring for fearful and reactive animals, and am dedicated in my pursuit to slowly and respectfully gain their trust.

Sam is always our go to choice for our pups when we are away! Sam keeps us up to date consistently and is in tune with our dogs and home so much where she can always spot an issue such as a potential hole in our fenced in yard or a medical issue. We appreciate her dedication to animals so much! You can tell they are well exercised and had a great time. Thanks Sam!

Sam was fantastic!!! We got lots of updates and beautiful pictures. She spent lots of time keeping our very energetic dog active and even made progress with our very shy kitties. We would hire her again in a heartbeat!
