Pet care experience

Leave your dog in the company of a Border Collie

For the past 8 years we've had a family dog. It started with Daisy, our Fox Red Lab. Then it expanded to a calm and well tempered Border Collie, May. Since then, May has had two litters of pups. My brother kept one of them for himself. From the second litter, we kept another - her name is Bonnie. Bonnie is now 2 years old and loves nothing more than a run around and a play with other dogs. She's very submissive and gentle. We understand how hard it can be to find pet care as we live away from close friends and family. Fortunately through Rover we have found a great sitter. However, Bonnie definitely misses the regular dog interaction with her sisters and mum. We are offering our home for your dog, to come to a safe and enjoyable space where they can be well looked after and play with another well mannered dog. In terms of experience, we have a lot of experience with high energy dogs. Labs, Collies, Spaniels. If you have a high energy breed, it can be nerve-wracking leaving them with someone for the first time, worrying if the new sitter will manage. Rest assured if you entrust us with your pooch, there will be no concerns - two years with a Border Collie puppy has prepared us for all. Puppies (over 6 months) also welcome - as we have recent experience and would be comfortable with them. Unfortunately if you have a male dog still in tact, we won't be able to look after him for now because Bonnie is yet to be spayed.

We had a very positive experience with Sam and his partner. They were super flexible with working around my timings and shift pattern which I really appreciated. Our dog Makora looked like she had an amazing time with their dog Bonnie. Would recommend for sure 😊🥰🐶

Sam is an amazing pet sitter! My dog stayed for a week and had the best time with him and his adorable, friendly dog, Bonnie. I got regular updates and great pics that made me feel totally at ease. Couldn’t have asked for better care, highly recommend!!

Sam is my partner and together we live in a lovely bungalow with a spacious garden, in a safe neighbourhood. Sam has grown up with dogs and so is very familiar with how to look after them. He primarily looks after our own dog as he works remotely from home. He's very attentive and communicative and i have no doubt any dog he'd be looking after would have the time of their life, with ample place to run about, play and go on walks with our dog and nap in comfy spots when needed!

Schedule

I work remotely so am at home pretty much all the time. This means I can be flexible with dog care, walks etc., and if required I am also available to pick up and drop off. My partner also works at home 3 days of the week so there's always someone on hand to give your pooch the love and attention they need.

Safety, trust & environment

As we have a dog of our own, our house is fully dog proofed. We have a fenced garden and also live right next to a park for easy access. Dogs are ALWAYS allowed on the furniture or bed. Bonnie spends most of her time curled up sleeping on the sofa. Your dog would be welcome to do the same. Bonnie is also crate trained, and voluntarily sleeps there at night. If either dog needed some time apart, we have the option for Bonnie to rest in the crate. Happy to do meet and greet before any initial stays.

Pets

A typical day

As Border Collie owners, stimulation is king. Yes there are plenty of walks, but we also do our best to vary the experiences we provide. Sniff walks through woodland, runs in open spaces, games of "find it" and fetch. Kongs, lick mats and chew toys inside the house.

Tell us as much as you can about your pooch - their training level (e.g. recall, leave it etc), if they are crate trained or not, any special care requirements etc Unfortunately if your dog is unable to be walked off lead then we will not be able to accept the booking. This is because our dog is very energetic and likes to run and play play play off-lead. If yours is unable to then it makes it difficult to be able to walk them together.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
