Whether we are tending to horses on a farm or cat-sitting in a big city, we believe a home should be respected and cared for and animals should be treated as family. Our sweetheart Ridgeback mix, Ellie, passed away in 2021 and house-sitting has helped our hearts to heal as we have had the opportunity to care for such amazing fur babies as we travel. We can’t wait until we buy a home and can once again have a dog of our own, but until then, we are so thankful to be able to love on the pets we watch!

A typical day
I’m a big believer that the best activity a dog can do is walk and I’m a huge fan of neighborhood walks and nature hikes! I also love to play intellectual games with dogs who appreciate such activities. (Hide and seek with toys or treats, puzzle feeders, etc)

Hello! I’m Sam, an entrepreneur, artist, animal lover, traveler, and mom to Benny, the sweetest 11-year-old ever. We love to explore new places, but we firmly believe that life is better with furry friends, so house-sitting has become a perfect fit for us! Sometimes we come as a house-sitting team and sometimes (while he is with his dad), I travel solo. For drop-in visits and dog-walks, I typically come solo, but I will always communicate this ahead of time if that changes! I was raised with German Shepherds and Yorkies, so big or small, I love them all! We’ve rescued three feral kittens who’ve become the biggest loves and rule our house. Our last pup rescue, Ellie, was a mix who was equal parts love-bug and wild-child so I’m quite comfortable with dogs who need extra exercise to tire them out as well as older dogs that just want to snooze on the couch. (We have a 3 generation household and my mom's pup is a senior Yorkie who is deaf and mostly blind...so I have lots of experience dealing with special needs dogs, medications, etc) We’ve watched numerous dogs, cats, both indoor friends and barn cats, as well as a horse, a donkey, a few guinea pigs, and lots of chickens. Plus we love caring for gardens, filling bird feeders, and tending to a home.

We have used Sam & her darling son for house/pet sitting for almost 2 years. We were in search of a caring, compassionate dog/cat sitter who would stay in our home. Her bio indicated she had a little boy & we were immediately drawn to her & her son hoping that they would be a good fit for our beloved pets now that our children are grown & grandkids are not yet on the scene. We decided to take a chance with the home sitting service. I cannot say enough good things about the Sam & Benny team. Our lab LOVES her little boy! Sam took such good care of our busy lab & our 2 laid back cats. She is communicative, sends pictures, & keeps the house as if it were her own. We could not be more pleased. Our lab even seems a bit mopey for a few days whenever they leave. She loves them dearly. Sam even keeps the bird feeders filled, feeds the deer & waters my plants. The house is always cleaner than when we left it, too! One of the most important things to us when we travel is knowing that our pets & home are well cared for ~ Sam understands the importance of that connection & communicates regularly when we are away keeping us updated with life back home. She makes it easy for us to have a worry free vacation. We feel very blessed to have found someone like her to entrust what is most precious to us. We actually now work our summer travels around her schedule! I highly recommend, without reservation, Sam & Benny. She is absolutely great! P&R
Sam is A+++ … She is wonderful with our two small dogs; communicates well; and takes and sends wonderful dog pics. She also took great care of our home while we were gone, leaving it spic n span with clean sheets, etc. Sam is very friendly, helpful and conscientious, and her son is a sweet bonus offering even more gentle care and a second lap for our “lap dogs.” Thanks, Sam & B, for excellent, all-pro service and care!
