Active and Flexible Dog Lover
Pet care experience
I have pet sit for as long as one month at a time since graduating college in 2021, and I have trained my family KBD's to have excellent on and off leash trail etiquette so that we can spend as much time together as possible doing what we love (hiking, running, foraging for berries, and swimming). I have also raised and pet sit cats, including kittens, and love getting to know their unique preferences when it comes to play and affection. When pet sitting, I take into account the activity needs of the dog and comfort of the owner so that you can come home to a happy dog that is the perfect amount of excited to see you. I will always respect you and your pet's boundaries to make them as comfortable as possible while you are gone. I'm a very active person who will go above and beyond to make sure your dog is safe and successful in all our activities, whether that is making sure your reactive pup can play fetch in a secluded area away from other dogs, or your fluffy Houdini has plenty of stimulating games to play to avoid a boredom fueled escapade. I believe in positive reinforcement, and I am happy to uphold any training expectations you have for your pet.
Reviews
Sam did a great job caring for our dog while we were on vacation. No problems at all and I appreciated the daily correspondence. This was my first time using Rover to find a dog sitter, and it was a good experience. Thanks!
I would highly recommend Sam for short or long pet sitting jobs. Sam is a very caring and passionate about animals and you can tell because after watching our dog just once anytime after that our dog would get very excited anytime she saw Sam.
I am delighted to write this recommendation for an incredible dog sitter who provided outstanding care for our beloved Pitbull, Demi. When we needed someone trustworthy and reliable to look after our furry family member, we found the perfect match through Rover. Throughout the entire dog-sitting experience, Sam demonstrated exceptional professionalism and dedication. She followed our instructions diligently, ensuring that Demi's routine and special needs were met. Whether it was feeding, walking, or administering medication, we knew Demi was in capable hands.

I live in Selle Valley in a tiny cabin. Although I have a large meadow in the backyard, there is a large population of deer and turkeys I cannot allow dogs to chase. That being said, I am happy to take your dog on safe adventures and am a regular at the dog park, Odin Bay, the Bay Trail, and hiking trails all over the area from Pine Street woods to Beehive Lake. I do allow dogs on furniture and in bed and have plenty of space to take dogs on leashed walks multiple times a day. I have family near by and can organize play dates/socialization with Lupine, who is a gentle giant and great with puppies and friendly dogs. While boarding I prefer not to leave dogs on their own if at all possible. When house-sitting I am more comfortable leaving dogs alone for reasonable amounts of time, and work with you to make sure your pet is safe and comfortable at home. Again, I will work with you to decide what kinds of activities are appropriate for your pet so that you have a dog that is happy, but not too happy, to see you when you get home!

Information Sam C. would like to know about your pet
If I am boarding your dog it is very important to me to know any less-than-ideal habits. No shame! For example if you have a counter-shark, its important for me to know so I can make sure your dog isn't going to eat something harmful while I'm in the bathroom. I also need to know your dogs off-leash capabilities and activity level in order to plan activities. My first priority is your dogs safety. While I will use every trick up my sleeve to prevent any problems, the person who knows the most about keeping your dog safe is you.
A typical day
I like to start with a quick 5-10 minute walk in the morning so your dog can use the bathroom right away. After breakfast, I like to choose a place to walk that will address the dogs needs. For fetch, we can head to Odin Bay. If your dog is has a lot of exercise needs, I love taking a buddy up McKinnick Trail or Beehive Lake trail. If your dog loves to socialize Pine Street Woods and Bay Trail is a great spot to meet new dogs for a quick play. If your dog is in the middle of a training regime you'd like to keep caught up on, we can play games with some tasty and healthy treats I always keep on hand. If it's hot, my favorite activity is to hit a dog-friendly swimming hole after a long hike.

Availability
I currently work 4 days a week Wednesday through Saturday for 4 hour shifts. Since I live about 20 minutes from town, I am only accepting boarding Sunday through Tuesday. I do however accept house-sitting jobs on work days provided your pet can be alone for up to 5 hours at a time.
