Hello, my name is Saige Griffis West. I'm a Colorado native who is passionate about animals of all kind, but I especially have a place in my heart for dogs. I've lived and worked around animals my entire life. I grew up with dogs, cats, and parrots and helped care for many others. I have an African Grey Parrot named Sneaky, and a dog (Australian Cattle Dog) named Boots. Boots and I have spent lots of time training, and I really enjoy the bond it creates between a dog and their handler/guardian. My experience working with animals has ranged from volunteering at a dog shelter, fish hatchery, and a rescue for injured birds of prey, to pet sitting for friends and family, helping around an alpaca ranch, and adopting a dog, cat, and parrots of my own, all of which came to me with behavioral problems that I learned to work with or correct). I have a degree in Wildlife biology, and currently am self employed, working part time as a waterfowl and gamebird taxidermist. I work well with dogs of all ages and different temperaments, and typically they take a liking to me right away. I understand the basics of dog training and communication (my dog and I spent a year taking obedience classes). I enjoy walking, and will take my own dog on hikes and camping, although the walks I provide for your dog will be in your own neighborhood. I am able to walk 1-2 dogs at a time, especially if they are relatively well behaved. I prefer the level of control and communication I can maintain if the group of dogs I walk is no bigger that 2, and I will only walk two dogs at the same time if they're from the same household.
