Pet care experience

Pawsome Pal: Caring & Fun!

What sets me apart from other sitters is how I naturally fell into pet sitting through caring for family and friends' pets, which soon caught the attention of neighbors. This journey into pet sitting has deepened my passion for my community. I have experience caring for a diverse range of animals including dogs of all sizes and ages, cats, and pets with special medical needs. I'm also skilled in looking after birds, fish, and chickens, and am enthusiastic about expanding my expertise to include even more types of animals. Whether it's training puppies, providing comfort to senior pets, or administering medicine, my approach is always compassionate and tailored to the specific needs of each pet. I'm eager to bring my love and dedication to more families, helping everyone feel secure that their beloved animals are in caring hands.

Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets, either in my home or at a client's, I prioritize creating a comfortable and consistent environment for each pet. Before any stay begins, I communicate closely with the pet parent to understand what a normal day looks like for their pet. This allows me to tailor the pet's experience specifically to their routine and preferences, ensuring there is minimal change and maximum comfort during their stay. By maintaining their usual schedule — from feeding times to favorite play activities — I make the transition as smooth and stress-free as possible, allowing pets to feel secure and at ease whether they're in their home or mine. This customized approach helps ensure that each pet receives the best possible care while under my supervision.

Sage has a wonderful way with dogs. She is attentive, knows just what they need, and gives them nothing but the best care! While under her supervision, she watches them like they were her own and takes her responsibilities very seriously. Any pet under her care is in great hands!

It's crucial to gather detailed information about a pet’s routine and preferences before pet sitting to ensure they feel comfortable and secure. Some of the essential questions I ask include: What does a typical day look like for your pet? This helps me maintain a sense of normalcy for them. What are their usual walking times and how long are the walks? This ensures they get the right amount of physical activity. What are their feeding times and dietary restrictions or preferences? Does your pet prefer sleeping in a crate or are they more comfortable cuddling up? How much outside time are they accustomed to, and do they have a preferred spot they like to visit? Are there any specific behaviors I should be aware of, such as anxiety triggers or aggression? Does your pet have any medical conditions or medications that I should be aware of? What are your preferred procedures in case of an emergency? Who is your vet? Do they have favorite toys or comfort items that help them feel at ease? How does your pet react to other animals? Should they be kept away from certain types or sizes of pets? These questions allow me to provide a safe, enjoyable, and stress-free environment for the pets I care for, ensuring their needs are met just as they would be at home.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
