I have been an animal person for as long as I remember, and I finally got my own pooch in 2018. As a rescue from substandard circumstances there were some obstacles that other dogs may not have had to deal with, but with a great deal of patience and love she is living a happy healthy life. My love for animals inspired me to look into the animal care field, and from 2021 to around May of 2024 I worked at my local animal shelter. I was mainly responsible for cleaning enclosures and providing enrichment. Along the way I gained experience with various species (dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, guinea pigs, etc) and personalities of all ages. In August of 2022 I also became a member of the medical staff as a veterinary assistant, and I gained experience medicating animals as well as providing fluids, obtaining blood glucose level, and other necessary treatments. Outside of my shelter experience, I’ve also explored other sections of the animal care field. I spent some time at PetSmart as a bather, and was able to gain foundational grooming knowledge. After moving to the Atlanta area in 2024, I decided to give the doggy daycare setting a try. For several months I worked at a few doggy daycare/boarding facilities, and learned how to manage large groups of dogs alone-the biggest group I had was 50+ dogs! While I’m definitely capable of keeping big groups of dogs under control, I prefer to spend time with the pups one on one or in smaller groups, as it’s much easier to cater to each dog’s needs that way. I have since moved back to NY, and am excited to see what my next steps hold for me, and I hope it's full of new furry friends :)
