Maybe I'm old fashioned or old school or just old, but it is my understanding that a Rover sitter (i.e., coming to my house to be with my dog) is similar to a babysitter, and so the same protocol applies. I would never want a sitter to bring over people I don't know without explicit prior approval; I would never want a sitter to leave my kid/pet alone in a dark house at night with all the lights off. Rylea did both these things. To be fair, she showed up on time (at 1pm) for the sitting and she stayed until the time specified in the reservation (8:00:00pm). However, via my text at 7:50, she knew that I would arrive at 8:03. So, after a 13-hour day, I came home to a dark house with a whining and crying dog. In her defense, Rylea said this was her first extended sitting, that she was trying to save on electricity, and did not know the rules. My old self thinks those rules, though, are basic common courtesy. For the sake of the next owner, I hope she learns.
