In June 2022, I purchased a spacious home with a large lot on Lake Lanier. I completed several major improvements to the property right away, among them was fencing an area on the lake side of the house to provide a large outdoor area that’s secure for the dogs. In addition, my home has a substantial amount of secure attached outdoor living space on the lakeside of the house (creating wonderful indoor/outdoor living, access and flow) and I have a very sweet dog (a rescue) I got as a puppy named Penelope. She has an excellent friendly and chill disposition and enjoys having new and old friends come to visit. Penelope, is a mix of German Shepherd, Boxer and Terrier. She grew up with having a couple of "sisters" so plays well with other dogs and she is very friendly with people too. This safe, healthy, and loving environment will make your dog happy to come back regularly. My home is clean and tidy inside and outside and it's filled with lots of dog toys and dog beds so your dog will have lots of stimulation, will be active, will be comfortable, will be safe, will receive lots of human attention, affection, affirmation and lots of the same from my sweet canine co-host, Penelope. Dogs aren't allowed on our beds or other furniture, with the exception of our sofa in the lower level family room where we tend to snuggle with the pups and watch TV. I'm happy to share more with you in person or on the phone, answer any questions, and/or plan a meet & greet!

Information Ryan H. would like to know about your pet

I accept puppies and adult dogs that socialize well with other dogs. Ideally they are potty trained, generally well-behaved and crate-trained (if staying overnight). Generally, dogs sleep in crates in the primary bedroom. I have crates of all sizes so you likely won’t need to bring one. Happy to do drop-in home visits or housesit for cats and dogs and other pets too. Please inform me of any medical needs or other special care needs of your pet(s) and any aggressive behaviors towards other dogs, other animals or humans. I have been successful working with shy, skittish, stubborn, anxious, and aggressive dogs so the more important/insightful information you can share with me about your dog the better the stay will likely be for all parties involved. While it is very rare, unfortunately, there are dogs, usually male dogs, that will “mark” their presence inside homes. This behavior is troubling. I monitor dogs especially closely upon arrival, and generally join them in the backyard when they first arrive so they can go to the bathroom and do any instinctual marking outside. Indoor marking incidents “cost” me money for the clean-up supplies, lost productivity due to the time required to drop everything to clean-up and neutralize/sterilize the area, especially because one indoor marking incident can encourage future guest dogs to mark as well - creating a vicious cycle. Most importantly, the impromptu clean-up requirements, take me away from the critical task of caring for your and any other pets in my care including my own. Any incidents like these will be reported to the owner of the culprit, with as much support information as possible. When it seems appropriate (generally, if it occurs more than twice), I will discourage additional marking by putting a wee-wee pad or dog diaper on the dog to prevent additional marking. In extreme cases, an additional fee up to $49 may be assessed to help to offset the cost clean-up(s) and/or the diaper/wee wrap supplies. Any animal companions that require medication administration (pills or shots), ear or eye drops, muzzles, and other special services may be assessed an increased daily rate. Please make me aware of any special needs your pet has when you make the booking. We will adjust the rate accordingly before the booking is finalized so there are no surprises. Should the booking be confirmed without our knowledge that the animal requires medication administration or has other out of the ordinary and/or special care needs/requirements - I reserve the right to add a daily fee to offset the special care/time/liability etc.

A typical day

Whether it is playing fetch in the fenced yard, exploring the park across the street, on a walk to the lake’s sandy shoreline by my dock, or a nearby hiking trail, or the nearby dog park, your dog will get plenty of exercise, supervision and fun activities to keep it happy and occupied while you are busy working, dining-out, on a date-night, vacationing, or called away for important work-related or family/personal matters etc.

Pet care experience

Formerly a busy "C" Level executive, I know the challenges of having pets and a busy work-life and personal-life balance. I am a life long dog and pet lover/owner. Knowing the challenges of your busy lives, I decided to offer doggie drop-off daycare, pet-boarding, pet-sitting, dog-walking, and drop-in services for your pets. I'm fortunate to have the ability to stay home and provide pet-care services full-time these days so your dog will receive 24/7 care and supervision while in my home. I’ve had many clients, friends and new acquaintances call me the dog and cat whisperer because animals tend to immediately look-up, watch and listen to me as their master/alpha, often surprising owners at just how quickly their fur-baby becomes attached and demonstrates affection and joy being with me. I truly love their company and I believe animals of all types sense it and love it.

Ryan was easy to work with and really helped out by stepping up and taking care of the dogs while I was completing the move. I really appreciate it.

This is Hershey’s 2nd time at Ryan’s and she’s loved it both times! Ryan keeps me updated throughout the day and Hershey has enjoyed their yard. She had a great time and we will continue to use them when we are in Gainesville visiting my parents!
