I’m the fun aunt…for dogs 🐾💖💁♀️
I grew up in Truckee and have always made getting outside with my dog a priority, not just for her but for me, too! We live no more than a 7 minute walk from a reservoir and take daily adventures nearby. I’ve been many things over the years, but I’ve always had a dog in my care one way or another. I don’t love the chaos and crowds of the weekends, so I tend to stay home and avoid town/resorts — which works out perfectly for you if you’d like to hit the slopes and leave your furry bestie with me for the day! 🥰

Ruthanne is amazing! Our 3 month old pup needed care while we skied and not only did Ruthanne care for her and play with her but she met us at the mountain to pick her up in the morning and drop her off in the afternoon. And bonus, our Maggie got to play with her adorable Aussie and was so worn out both days that she slept like an angel. Thank you!! A+++
Ruthanne is hands down the best dog watcher I have ever experienced. She was super communicative and won my dogs over faster than anyone else… she responded to my texts when I was skiing teaching my nephews and sent me photos.. when I came to pick up the dogs, they were playing along with the neighbors dog and her own in the snow of their front yard, along with the neighbors and the neighborhood children!! I would trust her with my dogs in a heartbeat… looking so forward to using her again!
We don’t do much without our dog, but when we do it’s so nice to know she’s in good hands with Ruthanne. I first met Ruthanne when she was a nanny for some friends of ours, and we’ve used her periodically over the years. She’s always accommodating and takes great care of our dog, I think she wishes we’d log out of town more often so she could go on vacation, too!
Ruthanne has kept my pup Atlas a few times for me and he’s always happy to be with her and Sasha, and sad to leave! I love knowing he’s in good hands, gets to be part of a routine similar to ours, and that I never have to worry if he’s having fun. Happy dog = happy mom!

Schedule
I’m self employed and work from home most days. I tend to adventure during the week and stay home on weekends to avoid crowds. Daily, we make sure to get at least one 3-4 mile walk in, sometimes more. I take plenty of breaks for snuggles and mental stimulation (we love hide and seek around here!) and I’m a pretty active person at a baseline, so the pups just come with!

Safety, trust & environment
We do not have a fenced yard, but are very cautious of potty breaks outside with new friends. We live on one of the quietest streets in our neighborhood which is a huge perk! In winter months we mostly stick to neighborhood walks, but on most other days (and even some winter ones!) we’ll head down to the lake for an adventure in the forest. I do not give dogs off leash privileges until I know they trust me and we’re all good together — their safety matters most to me.

A typical day
Typically we’re up and moving around 6:30 and my pup Sasha is a lazy girl in the morning. She’ll hang out until about 10 and then it’s time to get outside! We usually take a 1-2 hour walk in the woods or at the lake. Summer days she swims too. We tend to keep our walks nearby. 1-2 times a week we’ll go on a bigger hike depending on weather. I avoid public trail systems like the Legacy Trail, it’s too busy and hard to manage pups on.
