Mature vet student, rural home
I am a now 4th year vet student who has extensive training in animal husbandry and behavior throughout my degree. Having spent a whole year lodging on a family farm meant my life was surrounded by a variety of animal species! Due to travel and working placements during holidays, currently I am unable to keep my own pets. Instead, I have been thoroughly enjoying pet sitting for my friends and neighbors!

Ruichao was a great sitter for our 5 yrs old labradoodle Nuba, who was with him for 4 nights. Nuba came back home so energised and lively, I can tell how happy he’s been and really loved his stay! We were able to set up a meet & greet initially and it was great to see the easy outdoors access his place had, his active lifestyle would be great fit for Nuba and knew we could rely and trust him as he’s a vet student and knowledgeable in caring for pets. He also went above and beyond to accommodate our requests and was able to pick up and drop off Nuba which was so helpful for us and made the whole booking process super easy. We are already looking at rebooking Ruichao for future and would highly recommend him. Thank you for taking such good care of Nuba!
Ruichao was able to take care of my little Corgi Mollie at very short notice when my usual dog sitter was unavailable. I was able to visit Ruichao with Mollie for a meet and greet a few days before we dropped her off which was great. During Mollies stay Ruichao kept me up to date with pictures and videos which really put me at ease as I miss my dog so much when I am away. Many thanks Ruichao for taking such good care of my Mollie 🐶
We left our dog for longer than usual (about three weeks), and she did extremely well with Ruichao. She came back in excellent shape and great spirits, which gave us real peace of mind. We especially appreciated the location and the easy access to walks in the Pentlands—perfect for an active, happy stay.
Ruichao looked after our dog, Rudi for a week. We knew he would be in safe hands as Ruichao is a veterinary student and he stays in a quiet area, with great walks at the doorstep. He also didn't mind taking Rudi for long walks. They even had a day out in the Pentlands which Rudi loves so much. Thank you, Ruichao!
Ruichao was brilliant with Blu. This was the first time we had sent her to stay with anyone, so we were a bit nervous at first, but after meeting Ruichao and taking Blu on a walk with him we knew she was in good hands. He kept us updated on Blu everyday and also sent us some photos of her. We would highly recommend him to other pet owners and will definitely send Blu to him in the future.
Ruichao is a very reliable, attentive and responsive pet sitter. He communicated very clearly and asked lots of questions before the stay to make sure he provides the best care for my dog. Ruichao has sent photos and videos during the stay and that put me at ease that my dog was really happy and comfortable - and it was based of evidence, not just words! I was so at ease, knowing that my dog is in good hands while I was on a trip abroad. If your dog is not a 'city dog', and rather enjoys muddy paths and nearby creek, it is a perfect place in the countryside. And I would have no hesitation to recommend Ruichao as a dog sitter! Schedule
From June onwards I am starting my final year of veterinary training with my schedule following a 9-5 pattern on most weekdays. I may sometimes be able to briefly pop home during lunch time but please bear in mind your pet will need to be happy spending most of the day at home. I am more than happy to have chat regarding your pets’ needs so feel free to get in touch 😊 I am typically home on weekends.

Safety, trust & environment
I have excellent facilities here for your beloved pet. I live alone in a beautiful area on the edge of Penicuik, around 20 minutes drive from central Edinburgh, and only 6 minutes from city bypass. My cottage is situated in a quiet, rural area surrounded by woodlands and grazing fields. I even have exclusive access to a section of river bank at the back of my cottage. There is amply bush trails at my door step, and Pentland Hills are just within walking distance. Easter Bush Veterinary Centre which is only 5 mins drive is open 24/7 for emergency and critical care. Please note my home is quite small and therefore may not be suitable for very large or multiple dogs. I am more than happy to have a chat regarding suitability so please do get in touch 😊
A typical day
There is abundant bush walks just at my door step. Your dog can expect frequent access to short strolls. I am a keen triathlete and enjoy running and hiking. If you have an active dog you can expect lots of good quality exercise with me! If they are up for some more intense exercises and advantures they could even join me on a long run/walk up or around the Pentland Hills.
