Pet care experience
A Loving Home Away From Home 🐾
Whether your dog is coming to stay, needs a good walk while you're busy, or simply some company at home, I'll give them the same care and attention I'd want for my own dog. I share my home with Barnaby, our friendly Cavapoo, and offer a warm, relaxed home-from-home experience where visiting dogs are treated as part of the household. I prefer to keep things small and personal, with plenty of individual attention, companionship and affection. My professional background is in luxury hospitality and operations management, so reliability, attention to detail and good communication come naturally to me. I bring those same standards to pet care, while keeping things relaxed, loving and fun. Every dog is different, so I adapt to their personality, energy level and usual routine rather than expecting them to adapt to mine. For first-time boarding guests, I strongly prefer a Meet & Greet beforehand so you, your dog, Barnaby and I can all get comfortable with each other first. 🐾

Ratings and reviews
Ruben took very good care of our dog Storm for a week. We received pictures and updates daily. We enjoyed our holidays knowing our little doggy was in good hands. Ruben has a friendly dog who kept Storm company. They developed a cute little routine and Storm quickly became part of the pack.

Bently had a brilliant time with Ruben. I needed someone to look after our dog Bently, instantly. Found Ruben and has replied to my request. As he has a dog, I wasn't that hopeful during the meet and greet as my dog barks a lot when he sees dogs. Ruben assured us that Bently is just nervous and not quite sure how to react. Afterwards he got along with his dog Barnaby. Bently was very at ease with Ruben. A lot of walkies and Ruben gives updates with photos. Ruben was also happy to administer Bently's medication. Bently is missing his new found mate, Barnaby :(

Ruben has taken care of my dog Cookie, a female Yorkie, several times now. He is extremely caring and always makes sure she gets plenty of exercise during walks and playtime. He is very friendly, reliable, and always sticks to our agreements. I can highly recommend him.

Schedule
I have a flexible routine that allows me to give visiting dogs plenty of time, attention and companionship throughout the day. For boarding guests, I aim to follow their usual schedule as closely as possible, including feeding times, walks, toilet breaks, play, rest and bedtime routines. Walks and drop-in visits can also be arranged around your dog's normal routine wherever possible. I prefer not to rush pet care, so each booking gets the time and attention it deserves.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
Your dog's comfort and safety come first. At home, new dogs are introduced to Barnaby calmly and carefully, ideally beginning with a walk together before coming indoors. I supervise their interactions, provide separate space when either dog wants downtime, and can keep feeding separate where appropriate. I generally host just one visiting dog at a time, helping me keep their stay personal, calm and relaxed. I'm also happy to consider two dogs from the same household who already know and are comfortable living together. I never expect unfamiliar dogs to simply "work things out" between themselves. Before a first booking, I also take time to understand your dog's routine, behaviour, medical needs and anything that may affect their stay. When caring for a dog in their own home, I follow your instructions closely and respect both your pet's routine and your home. You'll receive regular updates and photos so you always know how they're getting on.

A typical day
A typical day is built around your dog's usual routine and personality. There will be walks suited to their energy level, plenty of opportunities to sniff and explore, playtime, companionship and, just as importantly, time to relax. Some dogs love an energetic outing followed by play with Barnaby, while others are happiest with a gentle walk and a long snooze on the sofa. I don't believe every dog needs the same type of day. For boarding guests, I try to make daily life feel as normal and homely as possible, with affection, attention and plenty of calm downtime between activities.

- The more I know about your dog beforehand, the better I can care for them. I'd particularly like to know about their normal routine, feeding, medication, allergies or health needs, walking habits, recall, behaviour around other dogs, separation anxiety, resource guarding, fears or triggers, sleeping preferences and anything that helps them settle somewhere new. For boarding, I'd also like to know how they usually interact with other dogs so I can make sure they and Barnaby are likely to be comfortable together. And please tell me about their little quirks too. Those details often make the biggest difference in helping a dog feel at home. 🐶
