If we are new to each other, I’m only comfortable if we meet and greet in person before so please make sure there is time to schedule a meet and greet before requesting my services. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine. I’m currently studying psychology at Portland State University, which gives me a flexible schedule during the week to provide consistent and attentive care for pets. I also work seasonally at Providence Park on Saturday evenings, so most of my days and weekdays are open for walks, drop-ins, and sitting. Because my schedule is flexible, I’m able to plan my day around a pet’s routine, whether that means morning feedings, midday walks, playtime, or evening check-ins. Caring for animals fits well with my lifestyle, and I enjoy building it into my daily rhythm so pets receive dependable, thoughtful care while their owners are away.

Safety, trust & environment
I care for pets by focusing on their routines, comfort, and safety while also treating every home with the utmost respect. I have significant experience house sitting for a wide variety of friends, family members, and neighbors, and I always approach someone’s home with care, responsibility, and gratitude. I make sure pets are fed on schedule, get plenty of attention and exercise, and maintain the routines they’re used to so they feel comfortable while their owners are away. When caring for pets in my home, I provide a calm and safe environment with lots of attention and outdoor time. We have a fully fenced 13,000-square-foot lot, with secure fencing in both the front and back yards, which provides plenty of safe space for dogs to explore, play, and take breaks outside. This setup works especially well for short stays or active dogs who benefit from time outdoors. Whether in my home or a client’s home, my goal is always to provide reliable, attentive care so pets feel relaxed and owners feel confident their pets and homes are being well looked after.

Information Rowan W. would like to know about your pet
It’s important for me to understand each pet’s routine, personality, and specific needs so I can care for them in the way they’re used to. I like to know about feeding schedules, exercise preferences, medications, and any health concerns, as well as how they interact with other dogs, people, or new environments. I also appreciate learning about their temperament. What they enjoy, what might make them anxious, and any training cues or commands they respond to. Knowing their favorite activities, walking habits, and comfort routines helps me make sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for while their family is away. I am very open to any feedback and really appreciate communication and knowing the subtleties of what makes your furry family happy
A typical day
I always start by checking with the pet parents to understand their dog’s routine, preferences, and any specific needs. From there, I like to gauge how the dog is feeling that day so the activities match their energy level and personality. For high-energy dogs, I love going to the dog park (if approved), playing fetch, or heading out for longer walks or hikes at places like Powell Butte or Mount Tabor. For older or lower-energy dogs, I’m just as happy taking slower neighborhood walks, spending time outside, or giving them the calm attention they need. I’m very active and love being outdoors, so I’m always excited to tailor activities to what each dog enjoys most and what their parents are comfortable with. I am also very good at reinforcing any training that is in process and I’m happy to work with your furry family to make sure your training goals are consistent.

Pet care experience
I’ve loved animals since I was a child and feel very comfortable around pets of all kinds. I take pet sitting seriously and make sure every animal feels safe, calm, and well cared for while their family is away. I’m very responsible and respectful in people’s homes and pay close attention to each pet’s routine, personality, and individual needs. I’m patient with puppies who are still learning and gentle with senior pets who may need extra time, care, or medication reminders. I also really enjoy walking dogs and spending time outdoors, and I’m happy to take active dogs on the longer walks and adventures they need to stay happy and healthy. My goal is always to keep pets on their normal routine so they feel comfortable and owners can travel with peace of mind.

Reviews

Rowan has been great to work with. He is reliable and takes great care of my pup!

Happy dog, clean house, consistent updates! Couldn’t ask for more

Rowan is dependable and great with our dog (and cats)! Thanks for your regularity and dependability.

Rowan has done a drop in and walks with our pets and is always timely and professional. I would absolutely book him for any future needs. The only reason we dont have him doing daily walks is that hes too far!
