I am currently shifting my main career path, been an animator for 20yrs, so my days are completely clear. Learning to embrace a slower pace and dogs and other pets are the perfect teachers of this. I wake at 6am most days and I am happy to be up feeding and walking.

Safety, trust & environment
My priorities are always the safety and health of an animal, offering comfort and play are a part of that. I aim to do this while maintaining a structure and environment they are used to with their owners. I maintain boundaries already set in place and work with any existing behavioural issues or training regimes. I love to socialise dogs where appropriate and I am quick to get to know other dog walkers/neighbours. I have a very broad range of life experiences that means there is very little that can surprise me so I can approach emergencies with confidence and caution in equal measure. When it comes to an animal's physical health I am well read in both biology and medicine and pride myself on understanding the severity of any symptoms a poorly pup shows, I always have a keen eye on anything consumable on the ground during a walk and if necessary, will remove unpleasant items from their mouth! I am respectful of other people's homes and consider the space as much a privilege as caring for their pets. I grew up with a father who was an engineer and DIY professional, I learned plenty that makes me very autonomous anywhere I live.
Information Ross S. would like to know about your pet
Before I take charge of a loved pet I like to know all health issues that require either medication or specific behaviour checks. I prefer to know any known triggers of stress or aggression either in the home or out in public. Knowing if the dogs are used to any time apart from the owner, I have experience with dogs with separation anxiety so I can adapt. I like to know specific command words the owners have chosen for both recall and stopping, or simply grabbing the attention of their dogs. I also like to know if their dog has a habit of eating anything it finds when in the home or outside.
A typical day
I like to work out activities that provide the best mix of physical and mental stimulation based around existing routine, breed, age, known behaviours. From a simple wrestle at the home to long tiring walks or adventures in long grass or finding a perfect safe water spot for the water loving hounds. I love to socialose dogs (within their tolerance) and I am well experienced in recognising stress signs if an encounter is not to your dogs liking. For the dogs nearing the end of their lives I like to simply provide comfort and assist them in having as much of a potter around as they can manage. For young pups I offer good bonding play and early training assistance such as normalizing the use of a crate etc, fine with all the poops and wees

Pet care experience
Have been helping people care for their pets for over 10 years, mainly dogs but have had plenty of other animals in my life, cats, fish, ducks, a monkey! To name some. Including across the globe. I have experience from simple walks, or dropping into a home to feed etc. having dogs stay at my own accommodation (not currently possible sadly) and house sitting with pets from a single overnight or weeks+. My experience includes busy cities such as Brighton, or various quieter rural countryside villages. In terms of dogs, I have cared for pretty much all sizes and personalities and understand the nuances of a dogs character compared to its size. This also includes dogs with behavioural issues for which I will follow any strict directions from the owners to maintain current training
Reviews

Ross, was friendly, understanding and brilliant with Gizmo. He made sure needs were met and we received regular updates throughout the day. Ross is lovely guy and has lots of knowledge around dogs.

Great guy. Looked after my spaniel and house really well while I was away so I came back to a tired dog! Also looked after my fish tank as an added bonus.

Great with both dogs, lots of updates, respected the house, would definitely hire again!! Very honest, even with difficult conversations! Thank you Ross!

Ross is a 5 star sitter. Trustworthy, respectful, true to his word and most of all very kind, to others and also our two cocker spaniels who absolutely adored him. Ross’s experience with dogs and their various behaviours is totally evident. when we returned our boys were so happy and relaxed - Ross even helped with a couple of behaviour issues we had! He has strong arms and is therefore able to look after bigger and stronger dogs. Ross is also very professional and communicates excellent -you are never left waiting for a reply. We received lots of enchanting videos and photos from him during his sit We are booking Ross for next year without hesitation, the whole experience with him has been amazing. Many thanks
