Pet care experience

Experienced Greyhound Owner

After sharing four wonderful years with my rescue Greyhound, Ryan, I sadly had to say goodbye to him in May 2026. He was a huge part of my life and is deeply missed. Like many dog owners, I truly believe dogs are family, and Ryan was always included in everything—from relaxing at home to trips to dog-friendly cafés, pubs, and adventures further afield. Living with a rescue Greyhound gave me first-hand experience of the unique personalities and needs of sighthounds. From understanding their gentle, sensitive nature to their love of a good sprint followed by hours of sofa time, I know how important it is to provide them with a calm, safe, and loving environment. I also spent a lot of time training Ryan and regularly attended neutrality classes with his walker and trainer at Tartan Pets, which helped me develop a strong understanding of dog behaviour and positive handling techniques. Alongside caring for Ryan, I’ve looked after the dogs of family, friends, and neighbours, providing walks, drop-in visits, and overnight stays for a variety of breeds and personalities. I understand that leaving your dog with someone else requires trust, and I take that responsibility seriously. Whether your dog is a Greyhound, Whippet, Lurcher, or any other breed, they’ll be treated as one of the family. I’ll give them the same love, patience, attention, and care that I gave Ryan, so you can enjoy your time away knowing they’re in safe and caring hands!

I’ve known Ross for a number of years now just through bumping into each other while out walking the dogs. His patience, understanding and attention to each individual dog with their own little quirks and personalities is admirable. I have no hesitation leaving my dog with Ross which is a huge deal for me. I’ve struggled in the past finding someone who I trust with my dog but now I feel like I can go away and actually enjoy myself with no worries at all. I know my dog will be well looked after and have a fun time!

There aren't many people I'd trust to look after my dogs, but Ross is absolutely one of them. He genuinely cares about every dog as if they were his own, and you can see how much love, patience, and attention goes into everything he does. If you're leaving your dog with him, you can be confident they'll be treated like royalty and cared for as if they were part of the family. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ross to anyone looking for someone they can truly trust with their dog.

I trust Ross completely. He watches my elderly french bulldog regularly and always takes the best care of him. My dog totally loves Ross and he is my first point of call when looking for a dog sitter. 10/10 service.

Ross is 5⭐️ such a friendly guy with a good knowledge on dogs. He built trust with my Romanian rescue dog and is absolutely adored by my 2 dogs. He is kind, patient and we felt completely at ease leaving the dogs with him. Highly, highly recommend!

I highly recommend Ross as a pet sitter on Rover. He was a loving and responsible dog owner who always made sure his dog was well cared for, exercised, and happy. It was clear how much he cared for him, and I know he would show that same level of care and attention to any pet he looks after.

Ross has dog sat my black lab, Nero, for a number of years. Nero loves going and Ross loves having him. Nero always comes back a happy dog. Ross will listen and accommodate how you want your dog taken care of. I’d recommend him to anyone looking for a dog sitter.

Schedule

My work schedule offers plenty of flexibility, with my week split between working from home and my local office. Before accepting any booking, I make sure my diary is arranged so your pet has the time, attention, and companionship they deserve. Their care and wellbeing will always be my priority while they’re with me. At weekends, I’m usually out enjoying local parks, relaxing at home, or visiting dog-friendly cafés, pubs, and restaurants, so if your dog enjoys getting out and about, they’ll have plenty of opportunities for walks, fresh air, and quality time together. Whether they prefer an active adventure or a quiet day relaxing, I’ll tailor their routine to suit their needs.

Safety, trust & environment

Your dog’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. I live in a spacious two-bedroom flat on the third floor (please note there is no lift), providing a calm and relaxed environment where dogs can settle in and feel at home. Outside, there’s a large, fully fenced and gated back court for toilet breaks, and we’re just a short walk from several spacious parks and the River Clyde, offering plenty of opportunities for safe, enjoyable walks and enrichment.

A typical day

I’ll follow your dog’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding, walks, playtime, and any medication or special requirements. Whether your dog enjoys exploring outdoors or prefers a quiet afternoon curled up on the sofa, they’ll receive plenty of attention, affection, and care throughout their stay.
