Pet care experience

Experienced past pet owner

When I was just a little kid a big parrot flew into our house, and I kept it as a pet from the age of 6 to 18. Then when I went off to college my parents took care of it. After college I helped take care of my sister’s dogs. And I lived with a girl for a while who owned two cats that I took care of so I have lots of experience with different animals. I even used to own a guinea pig at one point in my life. So my entire life has revolved around taking care of pets. So I figured this would be a great job for me. I’m extremely loving and caring and will treat your pets just like I would mind. I’m a very loving and caring person.

I had to coordinate an emergency pickup for my dog in the middle of my vacation. Right in the middle of the stay, while he still had my dog in his care, Ross explicitly violated Rover's Terms of Service by messaging me to request an extra $200 via Venmo for "laundry" and bathing. He claimed my dog peed in his crate twice overnight, behavior he has never exhibited at home, despite me providing all of our own crate supplies and pee pads. This was an incredibly stressful experience.

Ross did a great job watching my high-energy lab this weekend! He was responsive, sent pictures to check in, and I know my dog had a great time and was well-cared for. Thanks Ross!

Ross is a kind gentle soul. He was raised with all kinds of pets from birds, rodents, cats and dogs. He is a hard worker and enjoys responsibility. He is patient and can adapt to any animal’s life pace or personality. Older pets need a slower pace and younger pets have a need for a higher more varied activity level. He has a special affinity for cats and understands that some are social, and others are shyer and more reserved. He loved to cat-sit for our neighbors and even learned how to give regular medications that were required daily. He will take on any task and is willing to do the less desirable chores like cleaning up messes or giving unwanted medications. Ross would give any pet owner a sense of peace and security when they must be away from their special family member.

Safety, trust & environment

Well, besides the basics like feeding them and making sure they’re going to the bathroom and drinking water, I always play with them. Show them attention when they want attention and don’t show them attention when they don’t want attention. I’m pretty good at reading body language of an animal. I love playing with dogs and cats. I know it’s important for them to get out their energy so they can have a good night sleep. I love going on walks. So I also do that in anything else like taking them to the dog park

A typical day

Exercise relax around the house and doing chores, of course. I’m on disability so my life is pretty easy besides the fact that I’m going blind, but luckily, I will never completely go blind block, probably but I’m doing my best as a human with RP

Yeah, can you please let me know if your dog has any special needs so I can properly take care of them? If so, that would be great. I consider myself a top-tier pet taker.
