I love to go on long walks and hikes - connecting with nature brings me much joy. I have done many house-sitting jobs, dog walking jobs, and drop-in visits in Vancouver. I have also taken the pets I sat for on holidays with me (the owner approved :)), and I know how to take care of animals in a car. I have experience with cats, dogs, horses, rabbits, chickens, birds, and fish. I also used to work as a dog-walker :) I completed my MSc in Oceans and Fisheries at UBC. As a science student, I am conscious and aware of potential issues that occur medically. In addition, I can administer insulin shots to cats. I am half Mauritian and half Indian. Back home, I have always had a dog growing up and have always been surrounded by animals (chickens, ducks, turkeys, and so on). I love spending time with animals, and they bring me much joy. I volunteered at a therapeutic riding centre during my bachelor's and saw the riders develop a beautiful bond with their horse in minimal time. While I may only be walking your pet for a day or taking care of them for a few days, I aim to build a fruitful and loving connection with them. As a recent student in Vancouver, I understand that the cost of living makes life tedious for many individuals, and I want to try to make that easier for those struggling financially. I am very involved in equity, diversity, and inclusion work and would like to have a similar approach on Rover. If your financially struggling - I will lower my rates for you so that you can feel included in this community but also can enjoy your time away stress-free :)

We left our two furkids in Roshni’s care over the May long weekend. It was perfect. The dogs were well cared for and the photos Roshni sent each day indicated they were happy and having fun adventures. An unexpected and delightful bonus was our place was cleaner and tidier than when left. Thank you!! I will not hesitate to book Roshni when we need pet/housesitting in the future.
Roshni is a superstar! She stayed with my dog Arthur while I was away and I couldn't be happier. She's sweet and full of energy and my dog loved her. My dog has some high maintenance issues and she was willing to do everything no problem. He also has separation anxiety and some dog reactivity and she accommodated willingly. She is easy to communicate with and left my house super clean (washed her sheets and towels, vacuumed, etc) and even picked up extra bananas to hide his pills in! I couldn't recommend Roshni enough!
Roshni was a fantastic house/pet sitter and I would highly recommend her. She took fantastic care of my two high maintenance kitties and my anxious/reactive dog. The animals seemed to love her! Roshni was great at communicating and really helped us feel relaxed and at ease while we were on vacation. Roshni left the house absolutely spotless, which was beyond appreciated after a 16 hour travel day!

Schedule
I work remotely. My hours and schedule are flexible. The longest I am away is 3-4 hours. I usually take the dogs out for a walk in the morning, lunch, afternoon, and then before bed (around 4-5 walks a day).

Safety, trust & environment
House sitting: I meet most of my Rover clients before I house-sit - to make sure the client is comfortable but also the dog/cat meets me in the presence of the owner to reduce the animal's stress or anxiety when they are gone. When I am house sitting, I usually take the dogs (if allowed by the owner) to a dog park close by to allow them to run around and socialize with other dogs. Or if the dog likes to run, I love taking them on runs with me or long long walks - if you live close to pacific spirit, I love to walk there. Usually, on the first day of walking with the dog, I practice recalling so they recognize my voice and know to hear it (if off-leash). If we go out and the dog gets dirty, I make sure to spray them down or give them a bath and dry/brush them after. As owners, I am sure sometimes you are nervous about a stranger staying in your home - I am a very clean and tidy person and super respectful of your place. Any place I house-sit at, I make sure I clean everything prior to leaving, put the towels for washing, the bedsheets for washing, etc. Drop-in visits: I also meet my client's prior drop-in visits. If it's a dog, I take him/her out for a walk and then give him/her lots of pets during the remaining time. If it's a cat, I love love to cuddle with cats and if it's multiple days of drop-in visits I make sure to brush the cat. Dog-walking: I also meet my clients prior to the dog walk. I make sure to find out all the necessary triggers the dog might have to avoid conflicts. When walking dogs, I like to use positive affirming words with them, for example, if they pee I say good girl/boy or if they do something funny, I will comment on it - it helps me create a better bond with them. Finally, I keep constant contact with the owner by sending many photos and messages about how the animal is doing. Boardings: I can board cats. I currently have a cat, so your cat would have to be okay with other cats.
A typical day
Hiking, long walks, and dog beach. In the summer, I love to swim and love it when dogs paddle next to me. I am a trained lifeguard too. I also love love to cuddle cats as you can see from my pictures :)
