Pet care experience

Dogless in Seattle

Lifetime dog owner but now dog-less. My collie/husky mix was my running partner for 16 years and my shih tzu was my lap dog for 15 years. I miss having that doggie energy around but don't plan on adopting any more dogs. So I'd be happy to give your dog some extra attention. I’ve volunteered at the humane society and also cared for cats and grown up with birds (chickens, pheasants, peacocks, parakeets, etc). I’ve also owned fish, rabbits, and mice. But I’m truly a sucker for dogs… and animals that act like dogs.

Rose treats Daisy like a part of the family. There's not a second that I worry about how Daisy is doing. I know she's getting the perfect amount of exercise, cuddles, naps, and even play dates with other dogs from time to time! We're so grateful to Rose for her huge heart and for giving Daisy so much love.

Rose did a great job taking care of my dog Oscar. Looking forward to the opportunity for a repeat visit.

Rose took care of our dog for one week at her home. She is very friendly, kind to animals, and responsible. Pictures were sent every day, with commentary, as promised. Our lab felt very much at home. The photos showed her comfortably stretched out in the family home or backyard and being walked daily. We had peace of mind on our week-long vacation, truly a gift. We highly recommend her!

Coco stayed with Rose for 6 nights, and she was so well cared for. Rose sent us photos and videos with lots of fun updates about Coco's adventures. I accidentally forgot to bring Coco's pumpkin and food topper, and Rose was able to get samples from the pet store to make it work. Coco loves spending time with Rose and her kind family. Coco is so happy and comfortable in their home.

Schedule

I go in office roughly once a week and work from home most other days of the week so I’d give belly rubs and treats (if allowed) throughout the day. I may run out to do an errand from time to time and can either let your pet hang comfortably at the house or come with me on leash if they’re allowed and like field trips. When I’m working from home, we usually break up the day with walks around the neighborhood. On weekends I am out running errands much of the day (so I don’t typically offer sitting services on weekends) but if your pet can hang comfortably at my place for a few hours by itself, please feel free to reach out. I have cameras to check in and try my best to include them in any outings. But I want to be pretty open about weekends so that you can find a great fit.

Safety, trust & environment

We have a fenced yard and soft beds/couches to rest. Pets often hang with me in my office if I’m working from home. I have other friendly family members who love animals and can provide some love and attention as well. I can only take pets who are okay around kids (not too jumpy) and ideally pets who are okay around other animals. There are times of overlap and I want to maximize everyone’s comfort in those situations.

A typical day

Walk/run/hang out -whatever your pet feels like doing or needs. We’ve mostly stayed local but we can venture farther if your pet is amenable to it.

0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
Dogs over 1 year old
No females in heat
Rose can host up to 1 pet per night
It would be great to know: -dietary restrictions (can I give snacks?) -anxieties -if pet can be left alone for short periods -any issues if we take your pet on car field trips -if your pet is kid-friendly (I can handle jumpy dogs but unfortunately my kid is small and doesn’t enjoy it as much) -if your pet is crate trained/house/potty trained -if your pet can hang out with other dogs or be approached by dogs/people on walks, go to dog park, etc I've been a dog owner all my life, had used Rover to find dogsitting for years, and have been fairly neurotic about my pets. So just tell me everything that’s important to you and your pet :)
