Availability
I am available from 3pm until late on weekdays, and all day at weekends. I have an air-conditioned estate car that’s equipped with a dog guard in the boot, as well as a car hammock across the back seats with two dog ‘seatbelts’ that attach to a harness. This means I can safely transport one large and two small-to-medium dogs that are known to each other at any one time. I live in central Brighton and am happy to pick up and drop off in this area. When the weather is warm, I go to Hollingbury and Stanmer Woods. When it’s cooler, I head to Sheepcote Valley and Hollingbury Hillfort, or can also do local pavement walks. I will always ensure your dog is calm and comfortable, and fed if necessary, before leaving it.

Safety, trust & environment
I’m highly adaptable, and am very careful to ensure owners’ instructions are followed to the letter. I have owned three greyhounds, which are sensitive to heat and cold, so I’m extremely vigilant when it comes to providing the correct and most comfortable environment for them all year round. Although they’re considered a lazy breed, ours have always been happy to have one long and two shorter walks each day, plus pee breaks when required. I provide this same level of diligence to any dog in my care, whatever the breed.

Information Roland M. would like to know about your pet
I recognise the importance of adhering to rules if, for example, a dog needs to be kept on the lead and/or muzzled. I'm a calming presence around dogs, and ensure their safety is my priority at all times. If your dog is coming into our home, it will need to be happy to remain calm around our greyhound, as he enjoys his sleep!
A typical day
Whatever your dog wants and needs, I'm happy to provide. Perhaps they're older (or lazier!) and simply want company and cuddles, with a couple of gentle walks. Or if they're younger and more energetic, I'll make sure their walks are active and fun, with plenty of stimulation, and enrichment toys to play with in the home.

Pet care experience
From sighthounds to schnauzers and lurchers to labradors, dogs have been an important part of my life since I was a child. I have a greyhound of my own, and I'm the go-to person when friends, family or neighbours need help with their dogs. I have availability for walks from 3pm on weekdays, all day at weekends, and offer boarding on Fridays and Saturdays. I’m also happy to do drop-in visits. I live in a ground-floor flat with my wife, who regularly works from home, so there are often two of us around to offer plenty of care and companionship. We have direct access to communal gardens for quick walks and pee breaks, and for longer walks, depending on the weather, I head to Hollingbury Hillfort, Sheepcote Valley and Stanmer Woods. I’m diligent and attentive with all the dogs I care for, and like to be a calm, laid-back presence around them, while also ensuring walks and interactions are fun and stimulating.
Reviews
I've known Roland for 30 years and he's probably the nicest man I know. He is an enthusiast in all things - music, football, friends, family and especially dogs. As a dog sitter, walker, player, carer, give them spacer, he is a complete natural. We have boarded our whippet Harry with him several times for a week or so. Nowadays, when we come to Roland's house Harry (normally quite a shy lad) gets very excited and clears the 8 steps up to the front door in one leap, so keen is he to get to Roland. Harry is a good judge of character. Roland is a gentle man and a gentleman.
I’ve known Roly for over 15 years and would highly recommend him as a dog walker and dog carer. He used to look after my dog, Kenny, and I was always reassured knowing he was in such capable and caring hands. Roly is fantastic with dogs and it’s clear how much he genuinely loves them. He is patient, caring, reliable and treats every dog with the attention and affection they deserve. I would have no hesitation in recommending Roly to anyone looking for someone they can truly trust with their dog.
Roland is an extremely caring and kind sitter and dog walker. He looked after both my busy, naughty terriers, and entertained and distracted them while we were away on holiday. He also takes them on lovely, fun walks, often in the countryside where they can run free and snuffle, which is their favourite hobby, and he always keeps them safe and happy. They love him! As a dog walker and sitter myself, I am extremely impressed with the service Roland provides for my dogs and I can highly recommend him to anyone else.
I have known Roland for 8 years. Our dogs are always beside themselves to see him and go very happily with him for a walk or to spend time with him at home. He always puts their welfare as absolute priority and it’s great to see how comfortable they are in his care. I’d highly recommend Roland if you are looking for a dedicated, kind and professional pet carer .
