Safety, trust & environment

I take proper precautions to reduce the chance of any harm coming to your pet. I always try and set your dog up for success. - I will not let your dog interact with other dogs or people to ensure that they are always safe and not in a position that could cause harm to them or someone else. - I will not drive with your dog unless in an emergency or with your explicit instructions. - I use my own slip leads for a leash unless the provided equipment is satisfactory for the safety of the dog. This prevents any possibility of the dog's collar breaking or them slipping off a leash while allowing me to maintain control of the leash should the dog pull, it cannot break free of my arm/hand. I have my own pet insurance and am also bonded.

A typical day

I like to take dogs on walks and enjoy both a structured walk and or a fun sniff walk. On rainy days I love to teach dogs what I call "find it", a game of sniffing for and finding a treat hidden in the home. I am also comfortable doing different training with your dog to work on behavior or new tricks they are learning. 20 minutes of sniffing is the equivalent of a 1-hour walk! Sniffing is very stimulating for dogs mentally and is a fantastic way to tire them out quickly while having a lot of fun.

Pet care experience

I have had a dog all my life since childhood. My wife and I started out with our first rescue dog around 2015 and fell in love with the rescue we went through. After we were comfortable with our dog and extensive training process we started to foster for the rescue. We quickly became a go to foster home for more difficult dogs and high energy dogs due to our high discipline/consistency in behavior training and training techniques. Our first dog we trained with obedience, behavior on leash, agility courses. Our second dog we got through foster failing is trained in good canine citizenship as well as therapy training. Through fostering we took many dogs with behavior issues and worked with them to address their behavior and get them adopted. Our most difficult experience was a dog we chose ourselves to rescue from being put down that no one else would take. It took over a year of extensive training and even working with a leash training specialist for issues it had being walked on a leash and is now thriving. I take great pride in my discipline and taking care of our dogs. I have worked with all ages from puppies to elderly. Dogs are monitored closely at all times and kenneled if I have to be out of sight or left free in home at owners' discretion.

Robert took terrific care of our two dogs and cat while we were away for the weekend! He kept us updated regularly and sent us great pictures. He left our place cleaner than he found it. We had a great weekend knowing our pets were in his good hands and we hope he’ll be available next time we go out of town.
