Pet care experience

Trustworthy & always punctual

We've been around animals, specifically dogs and cats, since before Laura was born! However, Laura took more control of family pets when she was 15/16. Neighbors have relied on us to watch their pets, feed them, walk them, and give them medicine either in capsule form or through a syringe. Robert is a retired accountant, so has a very flexible schedule. He had a cat growing up and our present family has had a cat and 3 dogs, over the years. Robert has spent time volunteering at Petopia. Laura works at a public school, working during the school year, but not on holidays! She get off work around 4:15, which allows her to have a lot of time in the afternoon/evenings and weekends. Prior to watching a pet at someone's home, we always ask to visit, prior, to ask questions and gain an understanding on how best to care for the animals. Once on our own, we expect to go in and out as instructed, feed the pets, let them go to the bathroom, play with them and search the house to determine if there were any accidents. If there was an accident in the house, we would of course immediately clean it up. When it's time for me to leave, we will make sure that all animals have fresh water, have gotten their bellies scratched (or petted in some cases), food as applicable, as well as a clean environment for them to be in. As indicated, we will communicate with you, the owner, prior to walking your dog/having a drop in visit to ensure I know how to best handle your sweet dog. Some animals like certain things, so it is important to keep it consistent. If your dog likes to walk a certain route, we will absolutely take it! If they like their belly scratched for 5 minutes at any time it will be done. It is important to keep all individuals and animals happy and well.

Safety, trust & environment

We currently have a dog, which we spend time taking for walks and brushing. Ava also enjoys playing catch, until our arm wears out. We enjoy meeting new pets and spending time caring for and playing with them. In many cases, time spent exceeds required amount, so we get our play time in!

It is important to know if there are specific things that a dog does and/or doesn't like. For instance, some dogs may not like walking near water while others do. It is also pertinent to know if there are things the dog needs throughout the day or specific things I should be on the lookout for. Some animals enjoy a run or even a fast walk while others like a slow leisure walk. It is important to know where the dog is on that spectrum prior to walking.
