Pooch Nirvana
Welcome to Pooch Nirvana — a home away from home for dogs. Pooch Nirvana began in New York City, where for many years our home became a second home to dogs from across the city. The wonderful reviews you see on this profile — including many repeat guests — come from those New York years, and I’m incredibly proud of the trust families placed in us. Pooch Nirvana has now moved west, and I’m delighted to bring the same warm, home-based care to the Bay Area. I share my home with my two Briards, Diane and Devi, and keep boarding intentionally small and personal. I welcome only a limited number of guest dogs so that everyone receives individual attention and the house remains calm, comfortable and very much a home. Dogs live as part of the household here. They have space to relax, outdoor time, walks, companionship, affection and plenty of attention. If your dog loves cuddles, there will be cuddles. If they prefer their own quiet space, that is respected too. Food and nutrition are an important part of life at Pooch Nirvana. I’m passionate about canine nutrition and have years of experience preparing fresh, home-cooked food for my own dogs. I’m very comfortable caring for dogs with particular feeding routines, fresh-food diets or picky appetites. Guest dogs are always fed according to their family’s instructions, and I won’t change their diet without discussing it with you. Breakfast and dinner are taken rather seriously at Pooch Nirvana. I have particular experience with large dogs and long-coated breeds, although personality and compatibility with Diane and Devi matter much more to me than breed or size. I’m happy to accommodate established routines, medications and individual needs that we discuss beforehand. I also like to meet new guests before their first stay so that everyone can get acquainted and we can make sure Pooch Nirvana feels right for them. Good and caring with dogs!
Fran's stay with Yogesh and Robert was great! She loved being around all her puppy buddies and clearly had a blast. So glad to have such a great option for dog sitting in the neighborhood!
Robert (and team) were excellent hosts to my dog, Sly. At the time, Sly required eye drops and the occasional wearing of a cone, and Robert handled it with stride. I know that my dog gets plenty of exercise because he always comes home exhausted. I would highly recommend Robert to anyone; he has watched my dog for quick weekends and long vacations. Never an issue!
Robert and Yogi were wonderful to Scotty ! He was happy, healthy and well cared for.

Schedule
I work primarily from home, so the dogs are part of my everyday life rather than something I fit around a busy schedule. I keep boarding intentionally small, which allows plenty of time for walks, garden time, meals, play, rest and individual attention throughout the day. I prefer quality of care over the number of dogs I accept.

My home is shared with my two Briards, Diane and Devi, and guest dogs are welcomed as part of the household. I keep the number of guests very limited and require a meet-and-greet before accepting a new dog. I follow each dog's established feeding, walking and medication routines and pay close attention to temperament, comfort and compatibility. Dogs have space to relax, a secure outdoor area and plenty of individual attention.

A typical day
There isn't a rigid schedule at Pooch Nirvana because every dog is different. Mornings usually begin with outdoor time, followed by breakfast, a walk and plenty of opportunity to relax. Throughout the day there is garden time, companionship, play, naps and affection according to what each dog enjoys. Evenings are quieter, with dinner, another walk or outdoor time and everyone settling into the house for the night. Breakfast and dinner are taken rather seriously around here.

- I like to understand each dog’s personality and normal routine before their stay — how they are with other dogs, any anxieties or triggers, feeding habits, medications, allergies or health needs, sleeping preferences and anything that helps them feel comfortable. Please also let me know about any history of aggression, resource guarding, separation anxiety or escape behavior. The more I know beforehand, the easier it is to make Pooch Nirvana feel like home.
