Loving Home-from-Home Dog Care

Harriet and I have been surrounded by dogs our whole lives, and today we share our home with two much loved companions: Pablo, our energetic Collie, and Domino, our affectionate Dalmatian. Having one male and one female has given us genuine hands on experience with the different temperaments, energy levels, and needs that come with each, so whatever your dog’s personality, we know how to make them feel understood and settled. What truly sets us apart is the life we have built around our dogs. We are fortunate to have Hartley Park just a two minute walk from our house, and we visit two to three times daily, rain or shine, so your dog will enjoy the same consistent exercise and stimulation ours do. Beyond our local routine, we love exploring scenic routes around Plymouth and taking on adventurous hikes through the Highlands and Welsh mountains during our own holidays. Their wellbeing shapes our daily routine, and we would be delighted to offer your dog that same standard of care. Your dog will have their own comfortable bedroom, personalised feeding and sleeping arrangements, and regular access to a secure garden. If you use a crate or have a specific routine at home, we are more than happy to follow your exact instructions so your dog’s stay feels as familiar as possible. Sociable dogs are welcome to join the household and play alongside Pablo and Domino, while dogs who prefer a quieter pace can enjoy their own space with frequent toilet breaks, enrichment, and walks tailored to their comfort.

Our Labrador Rhubarb had a great stay with Robert and Harriet and their two dogs. Thank you so much for accepting a relatively late notice booking, all the speedy communication and for being the first non family/friends to look after our little girl! It was great knowing that she was having such a fun and active time with experienced dog owners and having four legged companions for the stay as well. We received plenty of photo and video updates! Highly recommend. Thank you again!

Schedule

Pet care is a central part of our daily life. Harriet works from home full time, and Robert works remotely two days a week, which means that every day, there is always someone at home to care for the dogs. On weekends, we are both available and fully dedicated to spending time with them. When we are looking after dogs, they become our main priority. We adjust our schedules as needed to ensure they receive consistent attention, exercise, and comfort throughout the day. Whether it is walks, playtime, feeding, or rest, your dog will be well cared for in a calm and attentive home environment.

Safety, trust & environment

We understand that leaving your dog in someone else’s care requires real trust, and we take that responsibility very seriously. Your dog will be staying in a calm, clean, and secure home where their comfort and safety come first. Each dog has their own private bedroom with dedicated sleeping and feeding arrangements to ensure a familiar, stress-free environment. They will have regular access to our secure garden for toilet breaks and fresh air. If they are sociable and enjoy the company of other dogs, they are welcome to roam the house freely and interact with our own two friendly dogs, Pablo and Domino. If they prefer their own space, we will follow your preferences to keep them settled and content. We closely supervise all interactions and tailor our care to each dog’s temperament, energy level, and routine. Whether your dog needs quiet time, structured walks, or enrichment play, we adapt to ensure they feel safe, happy, and truly at home.

A typical day

Every day with the dogs in our care is treated as a fresh opportunity for adventure, enrichment, and genuine connection. We understand that dogs thrive not just on exercise but on stimulation, social interaction, and a sense of fun, and we make that our priority. A typical day begins with checking in on the individual needs and preferences of each dog, whether it is a high energy Collie who needs a challenging run or a more relaxed companion who enjoys a gentle stroll with plenty of sniffing stops. We tailor our walks and play sessions to match each dog’s personality and physical needs. We love to keep our dog walks exciting and rewarding. Wherever possible, we head to natural spots with access to fresh water, perfect for a splash, swim or just a cool down, especially during the summer months. Whether it is wooded trails, coastal paths, or riverside walks, we seek out the most engaging environments to keep tails wagging. Your dog’s wellbeing is always our priority. We bring along fresh water and treats to keep them hydrated, energised, and positively reinforced throughout the day. These walks are not just about physical exercise; they are designed to provide mental stimulation, confidence building, and good old fashioned fun. With two much loved dogs of our own, a Dalmatian named Domino and a Collie called Pablo, we treat every pet in our care with the same love, attention, and enthusiasm we give our own. That means plenty of play, structured interaction, and above all, making sure each dog feels safe, happy, and fulfilled. Whether it is chasing a ball through the woods, cooling off in a stream, or simply enjoying a moment of calm in the sunshine, every dog gets the adventure and affection they deserve.

To provide the safest and most enjoyable experience for your dog, both in our home and out on walks, we ask that you provide some additional insight into their behaviour and personality. You don't need to answer all of these, but anything you think stands out and is particularly relevant, please let us know. We are putting ourselves, and more importantly our own beloved dogs at risk when we are unaware of behavioural issues with boarding dogs. What is your dog’s general temperament? Are they confident, nervous, excitable, calm, or easily overwhelmed? How do they react in new environments or when meeting new people? How do they behave around other dogs? Are they sociable, indifferent, avoidant, or reactive? Have they ever shown fear, aggression, or guarding behaviours toward other dogs or people? Are there certain breeds, sizes, or genders of dogs they are uncomfortable around? What are their known triggers, such as traffic, loud noises, children, cyclists, or fast movements? Are they used to being left alone for short periods, or do they become anxious? Do they settle easily in unfamiliar indoor environments? Are there items or spaces they guard, such as food bowls, toys, beds, or specific people? Are there any parts of their body they dislike being touched, such as paws, ears, or tail? Do they pull on the lead or react to distractions while walking? Can they be let off the lead in secure areas, and how reliable is their recall? What verbal cues or commands do they respond to? What types of activity does your dog enjoy most? Do they like swimming, chasing a ball, exploring new places, or relaxing quietly? Is there anything else we should know to make your dog’s time with us as comfortable and rewarding as possible?
