I’ve had dogs my entire life and really appreciate how they enrich my life in multiple ways. I recently lost my beloved Ripley and am opening myself up to some temporary dog companionship to help both myself and others. I am a responsible adult (I have a successful career and a PhD) and I’m also a parent. I work from home for weeks at a time, but I try to maintain an active lifestyle. I try to get 15k steps in every day, which is much easier with dogs around. As a result, I am able to walk dogs that I board multiple times throughout the day. I also enjoy regular jogs around a nearby lake. This is also much easier with a dog. If your dog likes to run, I can take them for 3 mile jogs, which I am currently doing solo. I have a single family home and a fenced yard. I have a screened in 2nd story deck with stairs to the yard. It is a great spot for both humans and canines to relax. It’s fairly private with a wooded area in the back, where squirrels and birds are pretty active during the day. Dogs love it (and so do I). I often had to force Ripley to come inside before bed; she would fall asleep out there and not want to move. I have owned mostly large dogs (100+ lbs), but I have also looked after very small dogs as well. I’m 6’2” and pretty active, so there’s no dog too big for me to handle. I can lift them into the car without trouble if that’s necessary.
