I adhere carefully to client directions about medication, supervision, feeding, and exercise. I want dogs to keep their usual routine as much as possible, and owners to rest assured their treasured pets are cared for as they would. I am a background -checked government employee that prides myself on being dependable and trustworthy. I discuss my scheduling limitations with owners to ensure they are getting a sitter who is the best fit for their pets.
Information Rita L. would like to know about your pet
I ask about resource-guarding in multiple dog households, interactions with other pets, mealtime routines and eating locations, current training projects, crating routines, areas of the house to pay special attention to in regards to dog-proofing, and behaviors of concern to watch for. And of course, favorite pastimes and treats!
A typical day
I'll ask your dog to practice their obedience, or work on training a new command or trick. To keep a familiar routine, I'll ask you for dog-walking routes. It's their walk, so I let pups stop and sniff as they please! I'm always up for a game of fetch or tug-of-war, and I love using puzzle toys and scent work to get the brain cells turning!

Pet care experience
I love people and their pets! Most of my professional life has been spent in the people-helping field, and I enjoy sharing my love of animals with those I help. I am very proud to have introduced therapy dogs and equine-facilitated therapy to crime survivors in Alachua County, FL! In my free time, I've fostered over 50 dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, and even a few rabbits for various local rescues. My specialty has been helping anxious dogs learn to trust people. Positive reinforcement is my go-to method of behavior modification, and I can continue your training regimen with your fur babies while you are out of town. I can provide medications and even farm-sit if you need! I've owned my own horse and have cared for goats, chickens, pot-bellied pigs, and burros. I work full-time in York, PA, so I limit the area where I provide services between York and New Oxford. I stop directly after work (6 pm is quitting time) back at your house, then return to spend the night after feeding my own dog. I provide routine meal times, potty breaks, litter clean-up, medications as needed, treats as positive reinforcement, play time, cuddles, walks and other exercise, and if your pets are used to sleeping in your bed, they are welcome to do the same with me! I do all of this in your home so your best bud doesn't have to stress about too many changes while they are missing you. While Rover's pricing is set up on a per dog fee schedule, I cap charges at $80 per night and $40 per drop in or walk, regardless of the number of pets in your household. In the Rover app, I must modify your booking to be able to do that.

Rita was Amazing with our senior dogs and especially with handling the complicated meds/schedule for our Great Pyr. She was flexible with some last minute changes in our schedule and was so helpful! She sent lovely photos of our dogs and kept us updated. Highly Recommend!! We will using her often.

Rita is an absolute joy to have house sit for us! She is gentle and loving and provides the best care to our fur babies. Reliable and dependable!

Rita was an absolutely wonderful house sitter, and we couldn’t recommend her more. She took such thoughtful, attentive care of our senior dog, making sure all of his needs were met with patience and kindness. She also did a great job caring for our guinea pig, paying attention to the little details that matter. Rita kept us updated throughout her stay and left our home in perfect condition. We felt completely at ease knowing everything was in such good hands. We would happily have her back anytime!

Rita was great with my 3 pups! I definitely appreciated the pictures and updates. She left everything clean and the pups well cared for!
