Availability
I am currently here in Camden/Rockland for a contract until 8/10 and am available until 2pm every day unless communicated otherwise! I’m only available to take requests in this area until 8/10 and then I’ll be headed back south to Portland. Completely understandable if you’re looking for a repeat sitter/walker, but I’m absolutely down to do a little Rovering while I’m here. A guest appearance, if you will! 😗

Safety, trust & environment
I work with immense respect for you & your animals’ space. I know it can be nerve wracking sometimes to leave your home and/or pet(s) in the care of someone you don’t particularly know yet, but I promise that I operate with compassion and respect first and foremost. I’ve also professionally cleaned homes in the past if that’s any reassurance :) I recognize the bias against cats both in the veterinary world and sometimes on this app and I want to assure you that cats are indeed my primary interest. I don’t see cat care as an afterthought to make easy money.
Information Riley W. would like to know about your pet
In general, I like to know what the overall feeding schedule is like, any health concerns I should be aware/sensitive of, any medications and what that schedule looks like, what their favorite toys or activities are, what their typical hiding places might be and how often they come out, and how often you would like updates! For dogs specifically, please give me a heads up on how they behave when coming across other dogs on our walk. I am always attentive to their behavior when we’re out in said situations but it’s nice to have an idea before.
A typical day
Trust and believe I am a big fan of Enrichment Time for all participants and can easily adapt to best suit the energy needs of each particular pet. Personally I am quite fond of a walk in the park and I absolutely love watching dogs sniff and explore the world. As for cats, I first prefer to meet them, let them figure out how they feel about me, get a feel for their routines, and then go from there. My own cat is at the age where she spends a good deal of her day slowly chasing the sunshine around my room and sleeping in it, but I make sure she gets at least a good 15 minutes of uninterrupted play per day.

Pet care experience
I adore senior animals—especially cats—and have extensive experience administering a myriad of medications and coaxing picky eaters to come to their dish. I’ve had at least one cat in the home my entire life and currently share it with my one old lady kitty, Tigerlily, but until recently also cared for her sister with CKD and hyperthyroidism like it was a full time job. I firmly believe that pets are members of the family and deserve patient care. I am also an avid hiker and love to bring canine companions along on walks to see the sights and smell the smells. I’ve lived in both NYC and rural Maine so trust and believe I am all-terrain and love a challenge 😀

Reviews

Riley was responsive and flexible, and Milo seemed very happy after his walk. Would definitely recommend!

Riley was fantastic, our dog and cats loved her!

Riley has been walking Brinkley for the last few weeks and has been wonderful to work with. She has always made time for last minute bookings and very communicative if the train has any issues. Brinkley always comes back happy and tired. Still one more walk before she leaves the city!

Already booked follow up walks! We had reached out to a few people to see about getting Brinkley a regular Saturday walker. One of my top choices messaged back and said she was out of town for a couple weeks but Riley was staying at her place and could pick up the ones until she is back. Riley came by and hung out with us and Brinkley for 20-minutes before the walk! He is a shy boy who takes some time to warm up and she was so great with him. It was crazy cold that day and Riley had zero hesitation -- and she was engaged every second... even longer than she needed to! We've had a couple of bad walker experiences as of late (either ignoring our one non-negotiable rule which almost ended in tragedy or taking him to the park and sitting with him for long periods of time, so he didn't get any exercise), so Riley was a breath of fresh air! Brinkley did very well with her and came back as a tuckered out, super cuddly pup. Couldn't ask for anything more! I've already confirmed Riley for walks for the rest of the time she's in town.
