Small Dog World - Home Full Time!
SAFE, FUN & LOVING CARE! Hi, my name is Riitta (or "Rita," if you prefer). I have over 36 years of experience owning and taking care of all kinds of dogs, large and small, young and old, and I love them all. Nowadays I specialize in toy and small breed dogs only (mostly because I have a 5lb little German Yorkie). I am home full-time and will treat your dog as if he or she were my own. This is a safe, fun and loving home - a vacation for your furbaby!

I am so grateful we found Riita! I can tell she gives our little dog just as much love and care as we do at home. It makes it so easy to relax and enjoy our vacation, knowing that there's absolutely nothing to worry about!
Riita did a wonderful job taking care of our little Turkey Meatball while we were on our trip! She made sure Turkey always felt happy and comfortable during her stay, and gave us frequent updates with lovely pictures. We'll definitely book Riita again the next time we're out of town. Riitta made us feel so comfortable leaving our little love with her for 8 nights. We are pretty obsessed with our pup and were nervous about leaving but Riitta provided prompt communication and sent pictures to ease our minds. Our pup had a great time and made new friends. We definitely plan to leave our precious pup with Riitta during our next vacation.
My 1 year old miniature dachshund loved being at Riitta's house and playing with her puppies. Cooper was there a week and he was so happy and cared for by Riitta and her husband. He became one of the pack and had such fun playing. Riitta sent pictures and shared stories of Cooper's day. I am very thankful for the love that Cooper received. We are not from the area but would definitely book again if we were.

Riitta was great! She was very accommodating when we had to extend our dog's stay a day at a time until our house was ready. She sent lots of cute pictures and updates, which made us feel so much better. Highly recommend!

Schedule
Being a retired professional, I am able to give lots of attention, love and care for your furbaby that he or she deserves. I am also flexible and dependable. For example, I can pick up or drop off dogs from the Duvall or Monroe Starbucks in a timely manner and not waste your time. I am very dedicated to the dogs that I take care of, and they are never left alone without caring adult supervision or crated (unless owner reguests that). I always aim to create a compatible little pack of dogs and encourage good socializing skills. I treat them as part of the family; the way I would like my own dog to be treated. That includes giving you a peace of mind and sending updates and pictures of your dear furry family member on a regular basis! Please note that when you book for a very first time, schedule the start time before 2pm. This way your dog has enough time to settle in before dark and bedtime. Normal drop off hours are 8am - 2pm. Pick up time before 8pm. Repeat customers can drop off later, but pick up time is ideally before 8pm for everybody. Thank you.

SMALL DOG SPECIALIST: - There is a large home on a 2-acre property with fenced in secured areas for small dog needs (covered outdoor areas for potty breaks in a bad weather). Supervised of course! - Safety is always my top priority! Small dogs have their own needs that must be addressed. - Special attention is given for your dog's needs whether highly active playful one, shy introvert or elderly with reduced mobility and sensory skills. - Custom diets are accommodated including allergies and food sensitivities. Fresh filtered water always available. - Training in small dog CPR / First Aid. Medicine administered as required. - Small dog health issues addressed including Brachycephalic Dog Breed issues and collapsing trachea issues. - Socializing skills addressed and taught. - Numerous potty breaks throughout the day. - Dogs are always supervised and never left alone!

A typical day
There is a large well laid out home (almost 3,000 sf, 4 large bedrooms) situated on two acre property on a private lake and a fenced in deck and yard with plenty of space to play with a ton of toys, cuddle on a sofa or to just chill out in an own private space if tired. Your dog will always be supervised and kept secure when outdoors. When opportunity allows, there is a private community park and a beach on the lake and miles of nature trails around this home that can be hiked and explored if desired.

- Boarding toy and small breed dogs only (less than 15 lbs). For the safety and wellbeing of your dog and other dogs, I would like to know that your dog... 1. Has all the necessary vaccinations up to date (including bordetella) and ideally has flea & tick treatment for spring,summer and fall months. 2. Does not have aggression issues (Gets along with other dogs) 3. Does not have serious separation / anxiety issues 4. Does not have destructive tendencies. 5. Is not in heat and is housebroken (or knows how to use a peepad). 6. Has his or her own food and specific written feeding guidelines at the time of arrival 7. Has his or her veterinarian's contact information and emergency contacts written down at the time of arrival 8. Has written instructions if there are special circumstances (for example oral medication administration, allergies) 9. Sleeping arrangements (Your dog's preferred sleeping place). Finally last, but not least, I would like to know about your dog's normal schedule & routines, favorite toys and games, activities, habits, commands etc. If you like, we can schedule a meet and greet to learn more about each other and make sure that this is a good fit for your dog.
