Pet care experience

Be a part of our doggie family

Be sure to read about our vaccination policy below before booking your stay. We each have over 25 years of experience in taking care of dogs. We have our own dogs (two Miniature Pinschers and a German Shepherd Dog) as well as fostering and taking care of many dogs throughout the years. We love everything about dogs. We even own an online dog supply business. So, if you said our lives revolve around dogs, you'd be 100% right! Our dog training philosophy is positive based only. Your dog will be safe and secure while in our care. Karen is a Certified Fear Free Professional and has taken numerous courses with world-renowned trainers and behaviorists, including Tellington T-Touch and BAT (Behavior Adjustment Training). We are both certified in pet first aid and CPR and we are both certified in pet nutrition. Since all of our dogs have been rescues, we have experience in dealing with all types of dog personalities and behaviors. Please note, the amount of time covered by our rate depends on the service being offered: Dog Boarding and House Sitting are both per night, up to 24 hours. Drop-In Visits are per 30-minute visit. Doggy Day Care is per day, dropping off around 7-9am and picking up around 4-6pm. We are happy to accommodate your schedule but there will be extra charges according to Rover's timeframe guidelines. Please bring your dog's food and favorite treats, a bed, mat or blanket that reminds them of home, a martingale collar, flat collar or harness and a leash. Please do not bring shock collars, prong collars or choke chains.

My Dog has a great time with Richard and Karen. She always returns home Happy and Healthy. They take excellent care of my Girl and send a picture everyday that me and my kids always look forward to when we are away and missing her. I would Recommend them to anyone looking for a warm safe place for their pup.

We have been boarding our dog, Hero, many times over the last 3 years with Karen and Richard. Hero is a unique personality and not the friendliest dog, but he loves them and his other doggy friends there.

This was Melo’s first daycare visit. We were glad to hear he got along well with the other dogs. Will definitely come again.

I had the pleasure of having Richard and Karen look after my dog recently, and I can't say enough good things. They did a truly wonderful job, and my dog absolutely adores them. It's clear they have a real knack for making pets feel comfortable and loved. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caring and dependable dog sitter.

Schedule

We both work from home so your dog will usually have one of us around. Meals are twice a day and bathroom breaks as needed. If we do need to go out it would be for minimum amount of time, and your dog will be secure, comfortable and safe in their own space. We play soothing, relaxing iCalm music and have cameras throughout the home to make sure all is well.

Safety, trust & environment

We have a well-lit fenced in yard, equipped with cameras. Your dog(s) will never be unsupervised while outside. We live right across the street from a huge park with a pond and trails. We are minutes from the Blue Mountain Reservation Westchester County Park where we hike and walk with our dogs. We always put your dog's needs first and will treat your dog as part of our family. We live in a "gated community" meaning we have gates throughout our home. So, if your dog needs to have a place to retreat for some rest and relaxation we are able to accommodate them. We also have doggy stairs to help dogs get up on the furniture and bed, if they need help. Dogs are kept safe by making sure there aren't any valuable resources to quibble over.

Pets

A typical day

Our dogs have gone to agility and scent work classes so there's plenty of fun dog fitness and agility stuff around. While we won't train your dog in these activities unless you'd like us too, there's always fun and exercise inside or outside. Sniff walks are our specialty and your dog will love all of the unique scents on the trails surrounding our home. This type of walk is good for all ages and breeds, and will give your dog mental stimulation and exercise. (Please note that walks are extra and billed at our current walking rate.) We also have puzzle games and a lot of dog toys, too! Your dogs will not be bored!

We have strict rules about vaccinations. You must provide a copy of your rabies vaccination certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian. In addition, we also require Bordetella vaccinations. This protects your dog as well as ours. We also request that dogs be treated with flea and tick preventative since we will be walking in the woods. These must be uploaded prior to scheduling a Meet & Greet. Meet & Greets are required before the first visit to ensure all parties are comfortable. Any breed is fine as long as they are people and dog friendly and can be around other dogs. Please let us know of any special needs, behavioral issues or requirements to make your dog's stay enjoyable.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
