A typical day

This time belongs to your (OUR) dog. If they want to sniff and mark and walk around in circles for half an hour, great! If they want to chase a ball / frisbee, or just play keep away for an hour, great! If they want to take a leisurely stroll and get pets from people on the sidewalk, great! If they want to swim (in a designated area, of course), great! If they want to run, then I'll take them to an off-leash dog park coz I'm not built for speed - lol. But I will adapt; whatever our dog wants our dog gets!

I'm Uncle Paw-Paw!

Pet care experience

Hello! My name is Richard, a.k.a. "Uncle Paw-Paw" to all my furry nephews and neices. My partner and I are D.I.N.K.'s (Double Income, No Kids), but sadly, current circumstances don't allow us to adopt our own 4-legged fur baby. So here I am on Rover in hopes that you'll share yours with us! My partner and I both grew up with dogs in the house. I myself had a white shadow, a male samoyed (back in olden times before smart phones and when digital cameras were a luxury). My partner Randy grew up with 2 female pups: 1 poodle and 1 cockapoo. We both have more than 20 years each of experience around dogs. On an outing with me, your (our) pup will be sure to get plenty of fresh air, sniffs, play time, activity and interaction. With the West End as our backyward I'll take them through Coal Harbour, Stanley Park, the sea wall, English Bay, Yaletown, Granville Island, etc. Every walk will be an adventure! I've uploaded a selection of pictures that show some of the dogs I currently interact with on a frequent basis in an effort to show that I have experience with many different breeds / ages / sizes of pup. I also want to be very clear that I have NO breed preferences; all dogs deserve love, especially the ones labelled as "dangerous". I'm not so great at filling out these online profiles, so please feel free to reach out and grill me with any questions or concerns you may have. I also understand that money is tight for folks in our current economic climate. I've tried to keep my rates as close to Rover's minimums as possible, but I am more than happy to make alternative arrangements for anyone who may need, and/or for any longterm arrangements. The money is really just a formality and will be used to offset some of the cost of poop bags / toys / treats / etc.

Richard is an exceptional sitter. He was very responsive, kept us updated about Nala, and was great at communicating. Nala seemed very happy to be with him and got to explore new things and meet new people. We were wondering if she would want to come back home; she was having a great time! Unlike other sitters we met, we could immediately tell that Richard knew dogs well and was confident in taking Nala. Any doggy would be lucky to meet Richard!
