Hello! I am a local biology teacher and a per-diem veterinary nurse at a nearby emergency animal hospital. With my unique background, I am fully qualified to care for dogs, cats, and a wide variety of exotic pets—including those with specialized health needs or requiring medication. I also offer drop-in visits for cats, birds, and exotic pets, and I bring extensive experience in animal husbandry from working at several local zoos and aquariums. Whatever your pet’s needs, I am here to help! Pet Care Availability & Services Although I work full-time during the weekdays, I am available to provide quality pet care on weeknights (after 3pm) and weekends. I also provide boarding services during the weekdays upon request. Here’s how I can help: For Cats: In-home kitty care and drop-ins available on weeknights and weekends. Please note: I am not able to offer cat boarding in my home at this time. For Dogs: I offer boarding, walks, and playtime in my home for friendly, social dogs. Weekday boarding available by request. Your pup will be treated as a member of the family, receiving the same care and attention as my own two dogs. My dogs are energetic, friendly, and love making new friends! I also have two affectionate cats who are part of our pack. For Birds & Exotics: Drop-in visits available for birds and a variety of exotic pets. Comfortable handling pets with special care requirements. My Home & Pet Safety All stairways and doors are secured with child safety gates. Frequent walks and potty breaks are part of our daily routine. Two crate sizes are available for pups who prefer their own space. My home is set up for both adventure and relaxation—hiking, paddle boarding, dog park visits, and plenty of cuddle time. Safety is my top priority: Please note, I am unable to accept dog-aggressive or dog-selective dogs for boarding. Rest assured, your pet will be cared for with the highest level of expertise, compassion, and love. I look forward to meeting your furry, feathered, or scaly family member!

Rene, and her pups, are always so welcoming to my dog Cory. It’s so nice to be able to take a trip and know my dog is in the best care.
Rene was great with Olive & Blaze. They were well cared for, I would definitely use Rene again.
Rene always takes great care of Cory. She noticed that he was itchy and has some skin irritation so asked if he could have some Benadryl, and always sends pics and videos of him playing and having a great time.
Rene did an excellent job watching my cats and making sure my one shy cat, Majesty, got his insulin. She was attention detailed and made sure they were fed, had water, and the litter was clean. I would highly recommend Rene to watch your pets.
Rene was great with Thor. She didn't let his grumpiness deter her from making sure he was checked in on & fed. She took lots of pictures of Thor which I appreciated. She even checked his litter which was above & beyond what I expected.

Schedule
As a full-time teacher during the week, I offer weekend boarding, evening drop-ins (Monday through Friday), and care during select holidays and school vacation weeks. Weekday boarding is also available upon request. In addition, I occasionally work per diem as a veterinary nurse, ensuring your pets receive knowledgeable and compassionate attention.

My home is a spacious, pet-friendly environment featuring a large living room and kitchen area, perfect for animals to feel comfortable and secure. I share my space with two friendly dogs, two affectionate cats, and a curious Bearded Dragon, ensuring a lively and enriching atmosphere for all pets. For your dog’s safety and comfort, gates are installed at all entrances and exits, and crates are available to provide a personal safe space during their stay. When you schedule drop-in visits, I’m happy to handle a variety of pet care needs, including: Cleaning cages or enclosures for exotic pets Maintaining litter boxes for cats Feeding all pets according to their routines Spending quality time to ensure they feel loved and attended to Your pet’s well-being is always my top priority, and I strive to provide a caring and secure environment for every animal in my care.

A typical day
Our days start with a refreshing wake-up and a quick trip outside, followed by a delicious breakfast and some cozy morning snuggles. Afterward, we’ll often set off on an adventure—whether it’s exploring the scenic trails in one of the three nearby nature preserves or visiting one of our two fantastic dog parks. Some days, we’ll hop in the car and help run a few errands (my remote start car makes this extra convenient!). When we’re at home, playtime is always encouraged, along with plenty of extra snuggles, treats, and, of course, lots of love. Every day is filled with fun, activity, and affection—ensuring a happy, healthy, and loving environment!
