No detail is too small — the more you tell me about your dog, the better I can keep them happy, comfortable, and feeling right at home. From their favorite sleeping spot to their quirky little habits, I want to know it all! Here’s a handy list of things pet owners could share: Identity & Basics • Name, breed, age, and weight • Photo (current and clear) • Microchip number and tag ID Health & Medical • Vet’s name and contact info • Current medications (dosage and schedule) • Allergies (food and environmental) • Any chronic conditions or recent surgeries • Emergency vet / animal hospital info Food & Water • Brand and type of food • Feeding schedule and portion sizes • Any food they can’t have (e.g. no table scraps) • Favorite treats (how many are okay and when) Behavior & Personality • Temperament with strangers, kids, and other dogs • Known fears or triggers (thunder, skateboards, hats, etc.) • Any aggression history or bite history • How they do when left alone Routine & Comfort • Daily walk/potty schedule • Where they sleep • Favorite toys or comfort items • Any commands they know (and the words used) Activity & Exercise • How much exercise they need • Leash behavior (do they pull? react to other dogs?) • Dog parks — yes or no? • Any places they love or should avoid Emergency Info • Owner’s phone number and a backup contact • How to reach the vet after hours • Pet insurance info (if applicable) • Any “if X happens, do Y” instructions
A typical day
Outdoors - Take dog(s) on a new hiking trail or nature walk - Visit a dog park so they can socialize and run free (per owners approval) - Go for a swim if they enjoy water (lakes, dog-friendly beaches, stand-up paddle boarding with life jackets and if appropriate) - Explore a pet-friendly farmers market or outdoor shopping area (per owner’s approval) At Home - Teach dogs a new trick (sit, shake, roll over) or work on existing tricks - Set up a backyard obstacle course with household items - Play tug-of-war or hide-and-seek with their toys - Do a “sniff hunt” — hide treats around the house for them to find Social & Out & About - Take them to a pet-friendly café or restaurant patio (if appropriate and with owner’s approval) - Drive-through trip (many dogs love car rides — Starbucks “puppuccino” is a hit [per owner approval]) Chill Activities - Brush/groom them (many dogs find it relaxing) - Watch TV together — there are actual YouTube channels made for dogs! - Give them a gentle massage I will always check the dog’s temperament and energy level first, make sure any activity is safe for their breed/age, and confirm with the owner if there are any restrictions. We’ll have a great time!
