I strive to keep your pets on their normal schedule, soothe their loneliness while you are away and leave your home better than how I found it.
Information Rebecca K. would like to know about your pet
Behavioral Issues: including but not limited to: general biting, leash aggression, barrier aggression, food aggression, fence climbing/other 'escape artist' tendencies, bolting for/bulldozing through open doors, trauma or stress triggers etc. These kind of things can be hard for you to talk about, but they are not deal breakers for finding your pet loving, attentive care. It is necessary for my safety and the animals safety that these things be communicated in full though. Your honesty will be appreciated. The Good Stuff: I also want to hear about your pets favorite things! Favorite treats, food, games, people and places they love to go. (This does NOT guarantee that I will travel with your animal, but it does help me get to know them.) It's also important for me to learn whatever terms they know/understand so that we can have the clearest communication possible with them. :)
A typical day
I have a few basic strategies that are my go-toos with the dogs I care for who are high energy or anxious. 1) Assisted Play. Like tug-o-war or fetch. 2) Walk Abouts. This is different from a potty walk that generally has a set path. What I considered a "walk about" might have a timer if it's relevant, but more importantly the dog leads me and I express deliberate interest in whatever the dog shows me. 3) Sprints. It's exactly what it sounds like. A predetermined straight line area where I lead the dog to sprint with me back and forth. There are always exceptions where I have to find creative solutions, but these 3 starting points I find are super helpful in figuring out a dog's personal motivation and expanding on that in regards to their fitness health and just in life. A tired dog is a calm and happy dog 9 times out of 10 ;)
